For some reason my stupid cable network lost the feed to the Canes/Sabres
game so I was forced to watch ESPN news for the little bits of news they feed across the bottom of the TV. In the meantime they had a little segment on Daunte and Harrington, nothin we didn't already know other then the Fins are thinking Daunte is doing so well he will get at least one workout a day during camp.

Anyways, the ineresting news I was talking about has to do with Harrington and the Lions. I'm not sure how many here are aware of this but ESPN was discussing how well the Lions are picking up Martz's system and they gave out a stat that might explain a few things that happend in Detroit. They said in the last three seasons the Detroit Lions lead the league in droped passes something like 36%. I think those of us that have little faith in Joey need to do a little more research on why Joey didn't have success with the Lions.

From all the injuries, the coaching, the droped passes, the systems. There was a lot of reasons Joey had a bad stay in Detroit. I'm not one to believe Joey is vindicated for any wrong doing, however there is is a whole lot of information that can't be ignored when judging him from his days in Detroit. I think Saban did his homework on Joey....big surprise right?? And he new that through all that went wrong in Detroit, Joey was still able to improve every year except last year. I believe we not only got a Great QB in Daunte, but a very good QB in Joey. If this team is lucky, we could end up turnning Joey into a first day pick in the near future.

Roy williams is the only receiver that really panned out for the lions. I mean the jurys still kinda out on Mike Williams, but also his TE's have let him down plenty in the past as well. Joey was working with a bad team, plain and simple.

That's an interesting stat. But, I would temper it with the fact that we had a lot of dropped passes last year and a big reason why was poor accuracy on the part of Frerotte. So, dropped passes can have a lot to do with the accuracy of the passes as well. I don't know if that is the case with Harrington or not. I just wanted to bring that up as well.

yea they explains alot.good find.but yea roy williams is all he really had.mike williams didnt do well in his rookie year but hopefully he gets it together

Well yeah drop passes go both ways. Wrs with stone hands and lacking concentration. Or, QBs with either bad accuracy or no touch on the passes and with tendencies to rifle the ball when not necessary making it very difficult for the wrs to catch.

In the case of Joey H. I lean toward the wrs being a big part of it. I don't notice much about the Lions so maybe a Lions fan perspective could help if we could get one on this forum. Pretty sure the FO looked at stats like this long and hard before the move to get Joey H. So, I'll give the benefit of the doubt.

You mean if we're UNLUCKY? If Joey turns into a 1st day pick, that means he plays (a lot!), which means Culpeper doesn't......

How do you figure??

Nah not necessarily, Falcons got Schaub for like a 3rd rounder, and what did he play? I think he started once and had a few other games where he came in relief, and the Falcons wanted nothing less than a first, which teams like us (we were gonna give the second for him, but ATL said no) couldn't afford to do but it shows you that people wanted the kid. If Joey can really impress in the preseason, and does some things in whatever relief appearances he has, it could benefit us majorly.

I am very optimistic on Joey, I think its a win win situation that we got him and Daunte, because you never know if Daunte will ever fully recover, its a harsh reality but u have to plan for the worst. Joey has some skills and has the experience and I believe he will thrive with the more experienced talent here in Miami.

yea he def. is good! especially wen hes got someone like chambers and vick out there ready to put on a show!

It does speak volumes in effort to giving us something good to look forward to. I agree we had our fair share of dropped balls but that number is pretty high for any team.

Define Dropped Passes

I totally disagree, dropped passes are classified as dropped because they should or could have been caught. Joey got the ball to the receivers, they dropped it. Joey is going to be our biggest and best surprise of this season, and we'll end up getting a first round pick for him in 2 years.

In Saban We Trust!
