I don't know if this has been mentioned yet and correct me if I'm wrong, but the Dolphins have outgained their opponent (yardage wise) in every game this year except the Titans game. Does this mean if we outgain our opponent, we lose, and if our opponent outgains us, we win? Anyone have any ideas on what this could entail?

Exactly. It means we're not as bad as everybody thinks.

It means we're making too many mistakes.

Isnt not making mistakes the difference between good and bad teams? Yes.
If's wont change a thing

I think it has to do with Mularkey and his play-calling. Yes, I agree it has to do with the amount of mistakes they are making. However, because of the play-calling there are too many opportunities for mistakes. The more plays you need to sustain a drive, the more opportunities for mistakes. We need to open up the field which will result in fewer plays per drive.

I agree 100%. The Fins are bad team right now. But if they can eliminate the mistakes, the Fins could be a good team.

Ponder this: Don't you think Indianapolis, Chicago, San Diego, and Philly gain more yards than their opponents?

Are the Fins beating themselves, or are they being beat by their opponents? It's a fine distinction, but an important one.

If the Fins are beating themselves... there's hope. We can fix our problems.

If the Fins are being beat by their opponents... we just suck.

a w is a w an L is an L we suck dude!!!!!!!:shakeno:

we are gaining yards but the problem is we are gaining alot our yards in garbage time when teams have their prevent out or like other people have said we are gaining yards and then killing our drives with penalties or a turnover. that whole yardage stat is kind of misleading. i look more at our points per game stat and its not looking to hot. i think we are like 30th or something like that with 13 points per game. something like that. i dont care if we gain 500 yards a game. if we dont score touchdowns and to a lesser extent field goals, our offense sucks....

hm maybe we should just throw a screen out to chambers or ronnie and have them run backwards?

I agree.

Let me ask you this, though: Do you believe we had any chance of winning those games?

I've heard several people say this, and I just don't buy it. Garbage time is when you're down by 21 points or more with less than 2 minutes to go.

All of our games have been close. If your opponent is down by less than touchdown with 2 minutes to go, that ain't garbage time. That's let's play some "D" time.

We were beating Pittsburgh halfway through the 4th quarter.
We were tied with Tennessee heading into the 4th quarter.
We were beating Houston by 3 heading into the 4th quarter.
We were only down by 3 in the final 3 minutes against the Jets.
NE didn't score their 2nd TD until the middle of the 4th quarter. They had to protect a 10-point lead for over 9 minutes.

None of that = garbage time.

Gaining those yards had more to do with the way our offense was playing: a sense of urgency, and hustle.

Some of them.
Pitt, Jets, Pats, I think we had a chance of winning them all. Too many mistakes, both physical and mental cost us those games.

Exactly. A win is a win, but we've been awfully close. Unfortunately, the Fins ain't playing horseshoes.

I most certainly agree with you.

All the games have been close and that's the problem. The Dolphins need to play with that same sense of urgency to start the game and put the opponent away early. All you're going to get with Mularkey's play-calling style is close games and come out on the losing end more times than not.
