To me, the most important thing for a GM to do is to hit on 1st rounders. Those need to be the picks that stick around. So far, it does appear that Ireland has been able to get a good success rate out of the 1st round. That's where it all starts.

Long, Vontae, Odrick and Pouncey are all good talents that are contributing and all could be pro bowlers down the road. Find a QB, and this roster (and these drafts) will look a lot better, guaranteed.

Damn, I didn't know Langford left... Oh well, in any case, we DID get production out of these guys over the last couple years. Thats more than can be said for our rivals' draft classes.

Langford got a big money contract. I think 4 years, 24 million. He was a great pick in the fourth round.

Are we really using the Pro Bowl as a measuring stick? I guess Vontae is a terrible corner since he has made no pro bowls and we might as well give up on Pouncey bc he failed to make the Pro Bowl last year.

I am not trying to argue that Ireland has done a great job, but people act like Jake Long is the only good player Ireland has drafted and thats a gimme pick bc he was first overall. Please stop using the 1st overall pick is supposed to pan out argument, I mean seriously how many 1st overall players have been busts.

I think we need to see what happens with last years picks (since last year was the first draft where he was out of Parcells shadow). Pouncey looks like a stud, Clay was ok ,Thomas ,Gates ,Wilson All of them need to develop and contribute this year.For the 2011 draft to be called a success. We should know more by the end of this season if the guy can evaluate players.

Everyone knows that BP had final say. Ireland was brought in by BP and he groomed him, but Ireland didn't have a lot of power in this organization his 1st 2 yrs. In fact, we hardly ever heard his name

How many ProBowlers has Ozzie Newsome drafted in the past 4 years? And remember, last year was Ireland first draft with total control.

I really don't think you want to be drawing comparisons with Ozzie if you're a pro-Ireland guy. Rice, Flacco, Webb, Torrey, Pitta, a number of other starters. They've had substantially worse draft position yet their drafts have been flat out better.

In Ireland's (cant wait to see all the replies blaming parcells) 4 drafts, we have 1 Probowler and out of his 1st draft class he have exactly 1 player left...Jake long...

Kinda hard to miss with the 1st overall when you take the safe pick huh...

This is a make or break year for Ireland. The draft is loaded with talent and we have a good position.
