I don't know if anyone else noticed this in the Marvez article.

"A source said Mularkey was given more freedom to construct his own game plan against Chicago with less of an emphasis on the playbook Linehan left behind, which could bode well for the future as Dolphins players adjust to their sixth different coordinator this decade. Mularkey was off-limits for comment because Dolphins assistants are only allowed to speak publicly for team-sanctioned programming and to television networks that pay rights fees."

Maybe this is why Mularkey has done so bad as our coodinator. Has to be a reason not sure this is the one but they said from the beginning that we sricking with Linhan's offense. If we let Mularkey set up his gameplan maybe it will be quite a departure, I mean this is the most points we put up this season and we get this info. Has to have a little possibilty of promise for our offense.

Well if they play like they did against the Bears the rest of the year, and this is why, then kudos to Mularky. Good read, thanks.

It always seemed off from the moment Saban hired Mularkey that he would have to adapt to the "Dolphin Playbook."

I agree. If you cook a certain way and have been for years, are you going to cook as well if forced to use someone else's recipe, based on their tastes?
It won't be the same. Let me use my own recipe and it'll taste much better.

A chef should be able to take a successful recipe and make something good out of it.

I'm not sure what this is even suppose to mean. There isn't anything in a playbook on how to draw up a game plan or what plays to call at what time.
A playbook is just that, a book of plays. Using the anology above there is no recipe in a playbook only ingredients. Its an OC's job to take those ingredients and form a game plan from them. So exactly what freedom was Murlakey given this week that he hadn't possed in the past?

I couldn't disagree more. If you have to point to one thing that won the Chicago game, it was the defense. Harrington and the passing game were largely ineffective. Brown ran well now that he was given the ball enough.

What we've been seeing this season is the Mularkey offense, not the Linehan offense. That much has been obvious. The offense has passed a ton with one of the worst YPA in the league. This was not the case last year.

I completely agree - it makes no sense. The playbook is already there and the gameplan has been orchestrated by Mularkey since the beginning of the season. He doesn't have Linehan's ghost next to him telling him what plays to run at what specific time. And again with these so called "sources" which ofcourse are never identified, it's getting so damn ridiculous. Like if these were the Pentagon Papers being discovered all over again!

mularky was still pass happy early... first half ronnie 12 carries, joey 21 passes... it was just that we maintained a lead that he gave the ball to ronnie more...

we should run ronnie more early in games...

I dont buy this convenient excuse for Mularkey's pathetic play calls. We had what? 28 points off turnovers against Chicago and now Mularkey is supposedly the reason behind the victory?

He still hasnt been able to showcase Chris Chambers all season and it has been costing us alot of points and too many crucial losses.

to think mularkey had anything to do with beating the bears is comical. it really is.

Something doesn't seem right here. How has Mularkey been emphasizing Linehan's playbook when we barely ever throw the ball down field? Or has it been Chambers and Booker not getting open & Joey not launching it like Frerotte use to? I dunno. I don't remember seeing so many trick screens, short paterns with Linehan's system.

As iv'e been saying all along, it wasn't the plays being called it was the execution. The players got tired of getting trashed by everyone from their mothers to the Pope and finally did something about it. Funny how when they want to they can stop making mistakes and play good football. Now if it happens agin this week I think it will be a clear indicator that Miami was picked to go to the SB for a reason, we have a good enough D, we just need good execution from the O and we got that against the Bears.
