McNair's agent, Bus Cook, was in Nashville last week. Titans General Manager Floyd Reese said they've had initial conversations about McNair's contract, but there's been no real progress due to the up-in-the air status of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Owners and players are still at an impasse, and 2006 is currently slated to be the last season with a salary cap. In the current CBA, 2007 is uncapped.

I was reading ahead to the Titans Newspaper....knowing we play them in 2 weeks.....and saw That at the moment the 2007 Season...will have no salary cap.

Now is it possible that this stays this way? If so what effects will it have not only in Miami....but league wide?

dsoes that mean no under/over cap issues? so anyone can sign whoever they want?

i dono if its a good thing or a bad thign honestly.

Won't happen. They'll get a deal done.

As of right now 2007 is an uncapped year meaning yes it would be like baseball. but there will be a bargaining agreement reached. I almost guarantee it.

I think Mcnair would be a great short term option. Imagine picking up a starting QB that has actually started in the last decade or was not a one game wonder. It is still a must to draft a QB hopefully a Croyle if he signed with us.

we wont look at Mcnair, we will look at youth in the offseason. Im tellin yall right now, Gus was brought in here to be a caretaker and groomer and now that he is playing much better (everyone is), he will be the guy next year unless we land Young or somebody and they decide to throw them into the fire.

2007 as of now is uncapped, but the chances of it staying that way are probably .000001%. There would have to be some monumental meltdown to prevent the CBA getting extended, personally I would love to see it extended and a pay scale for rookies implemented alot like the NBA has.

Why would we not look at Mcnair? I'm not saying we will because we have ignored QB for quite a while so why should next year be any differant. Would you say that Frerotte would be better to have as a starter than McNair. Why would we not look to improve an improvable position. I could undestand if Frerotte was playing lights out(more like with the lights out) but he has been okay at best. Why throw away another year with virtually no possibilty of going deep in the playoffs? I love my phins but our inabilty to improve or try to improve QB has been maddening.

Most teams try to upgrade as in real upgrades. We get rid of Fielder and sign Frerotte. I can think of no other team that has ignored QB close to as bad as us. I know Frerotte is not even an average NFL QB but damn half of the NFL has backups better than our starter.

not going to happen, go back to school.

wheres the logic in bringing in another qb.... to learn an offense... gel with a team... to teach another newcomer? logic is blis

The thing is that I think McNair will more than likely end up resigning with the Titans. He may even retire, he has had quite a few injury problems over the last few years. Plus if we do sign him and gets hurt then what do you do throw in the greenhorn fresh out of college. At least Gus is fairly durable, and has been in the system for a few years now. How is McNair going to teach a rookie a system he himself is learning?
