Interesting trade trends shaping up in the NFL. Grier has been a big part of reestablishing the norm for team building.

Very interesting. I was thinking earlier in the week when listening about Deebo/trade rumors...Does SF really want to trade for '22 draft picks? Maybe '23 picks are looking better and better.

Not saying Miami is trading for Deebo...just that it seems NFL teams are not seeing the value in holding these '22 picks because this draft is weak. Also, those on TV that said Miami gave up too many pics for Hill...most of it was for the '22 draft which they overvalued at the time.

This is the time for some savvy GM to make a name for himself...there has to be some pro bowl talent in this draft the hard part is recognizing the non-obvious ones.

Too many picks for Hill?

#29 #50 and a bunch of garbage?

How much less value could you give?

Anybody that believes the Dolphins surrendered too many draft picks for a player of Tyreek Hill’s caliber just doesn’t have a firm understanding of value.

Hill has arguably been the sport‘s most dynamic and impactful offensive play maker for the past 5 seasons. He was highly effective playing with both Alex Smith then Patrick Mahomes. It can easily be argued that he helped open things up for Travis Kelce to post the numbers he’s been posting the past 6 seasons.

Depending upon the value chart to which one chooses to subscribe, the Dolphins surrendered draft capital equivalent to somewhere between the 11th and 15th pick in the upcoming draft.

While Hill’s contract extension is hefty and impactful on the cap going forward, they in no way over paid for arguably the game’s very best offensive weapon — who is still only 28 years old.

It should be argued that they underpaid. And if Deebo Samuel ends up netting more in trade, they most surely will have underpaid in terms of trading away assets.

And I can't see anyone surrendering a top dozen pick all the way from 29 for just 50 and later trash, if a normal draft were playing out.

About the smartest thing a GM can do is develop a system in which they trade this year’s draft pick(s) for next year and the year after that’s draft picks.

Turns a 1st into at least an additional 2nd round pick, a 2nd round pick into 1st, etc.

If they are in a position, to give up a spot for desirable QB in the draft all the better.

So few either have the intelligence, patience or luxury to do it if they are in a must win now situation.

I wasn't saying it was. Pundits on ESPN were, I was commenting on how they overvalued what we gave because '22 draft sucks. Even if it was a good draft would still rather have Hill. I am definitely in the camp to sell all of '22 and hoard '23 picks.
