Gus was quoted by the Sentinel during post game interviews stating that he is not able to check out of a pass play.

Q: "Can you change a pass play to a run?"

A: "No. If you have a pass play on, you're just going to run that pass play"

The interview reads to me like Gus is commenting on the system in general, not the specific play in question.

What is the advantge to having the more experienced guy run the system if we have taken his ability to check down away?

Wow. That is surprising, but not necessarily horrible either. I'm not sure I want Gus Frerotte to have that kind of audible freedom anyway.

Could this be possible? No, couldn't be......could it?

Don't belive it. That would be asinine. Could you imagine?

What it sounds like to me is what I already have picked up on. Linehan has his mits all over this offense. BTW, those hoping Sage starts may have to wait a while (I am now hoping he starts cus Gus, whether his fault or not, is just not making it with his teamates.)

You beat me to it, Chris. The guy hasn't exactly distinguished himself in the whole of his career that would make me think he deserved to change plays at the line.

And another thing, anyone can tell this offense is purely Linehans by the way the plays are set up. Todays special on the menu was the double reverse on 2nd and 3. The other special was the line of scrimmage pass that was run about 4 times. whew! defenses cannot stop that.

And another thing. Gus is Linehans guy. He brought Gus here. So there ya go.

Yeah, it sure as hell looks like Gus isnt able to checkdown. He might as well point at his primary reciever before the play and tell defenders who he intents to throw to.

I don't know who this speaks worse of...Linehan or Frerotte.

Is the system really that limited and basic that the QB can't check out of a bad play or is the QB so dense that after 12 years of experiance, and 3 in this system, that he can't be trusted to call a simple checkdown?

Could this be why Culpeppers' play diminished so quickly post Linehan?

I can't believe it.

The whole board needs to get over the fact that we just don't have a real good QB right now.

Dude, your lost. You dont understand football if all you want to do is blame gus. Todays game played out in classic Linehan style. At least he doesnt fool me. I know what our problem overall is. I wish we would play Sage. It wont solve the problem that we have a coordinator who insists on BS plays that go nowhere and run the ball 18 times with 2 great RB's. lame.
