Interview With Harrington

Harrington called the censure of Culpepper "completely irresponsible," adding that the booing made him "a bit angry, to be quite be honest." Passionate defense of the starter is a requisite role of the backup, and on Monday Harrington played that role to perfection.

How should a starting quarterback handle such scrutiny?

"I don't know," Harrington said. "I'll be completely honest. Because it's a very difficult position to be in. But the one thing I did last year is I came out and I said, `OK, you're not going to break me. I don't care what you say. I don't care what you do, what you scream to me on the sidelines, what you chant when I'm coming off the field. You will not break me. You will not stop me from preparing to win football games.'"

I hope DC has the brass that Joey carries with him.

If Harrington can come into a game with this kind of attitude, he should be starting in my opinon. Culpepper simply isn't ready mentally / physically to handle the mistakes he's forcing on himself at this stage. Harrington has been there / done that already, and knows how to deal with the frustrations of a hostile home crowd.....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

It's pretty obvious they don't. It's also pretty obvious Daunte doesn't.

I said DC specifically because I don't think he does.

I'm willing to understand that he is not 100% healthy and is playing scared because of his injured leg but, if that's the case, should he even be out there?

It's obvious he shouldn't. But he wanted to badly enough that I think he fooled Saban. And now, Saban can't pull him without destroying his confidence. It's a bad catch-22 situation to be in.

Different team, different circumstances.....

Our protection in Miami may not be great, but it's good enough to give a smart QB time to execute a play. Culpepper may have a better arm than Harrington, but he hasn't proven to be the brightest bulb in the box.....

I think that's Culpepper's biggest downfall. He's not very smart, and can't breakdown coverages quick enough to make a play. He panics, and then gets sacked because he wont just throw it away{like a smart QB would}....

Plus, Culpepper is about as mobile as Marino now, and that's completely changed his game. Where he use to buy time with his legs, and hit open WR's for TD's, he's now eating turf sandwiches 5 times a game....

Harrington may not be great, or a savior for our offense, but he can't really do any worse than Culpepper at this stage. He looked very comfortable in pre-season, and that's not something I can say about Culpepper after two pitiful performances....

PHINZ RULE!!!!

I absolutely love this interview... Joey has alot more to prove than Daunte IMO. Joey is the QB that everyone questions talentwise. To be honest i thought he was great in preseaon... i honestly didnt like the signing when we got him... But he really impressed me. You can see that lack of confidence in Cpeps eyes.. almost hear it in his post game interviews. i believe if Cpep struggles... Saban hooks him against tennessee..

Exactly.. kinda reminds me how a guy named Dilfer walked into Baltimore.. and wins a championship. Not a phenom of a QB... But played smart enough to win... and let the playmakers make plays. That being said... Dauntes stats are decent.. its hard to tell what we're seeing on the field.
