Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland believes Ryan Tannehill's talent level compares favorably with Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III.
"If had we eight to 10 more games of film to watch Ryan Tannehill play that position, I think we're looking at him in the same breath as Griffin and maybe Luck," Ireland said. "I think he's got that kind of ability and arm talent." Although Ireland also suggested the Dolphins had been targeting Tannehill since the beginning of the offseason, he refuses to predict when the rookie will be ready to take over as the starter. Wow...if Ireland thinks it so it must be. I put 100% trust in a GM that has had a role in bringing in Henne, White, Moore and Garrard. I can see the Tannehill statue right next to Marino's now.

Same level as Luck and RG3...

If Ireland is saying it, then it just confirms my opinion that Tannehill will be a bust.

While Tannehill is talented. He also makes a hell of a lot more mistakes than both of those players as well. I just hope we sit this kid for a year before we play him. A yr in Philbin's system will do him good.

Is he wrong though? It seems that the main concern with Tannehill is inexperience. Well, Ireland said if he had 8-10 games more played the opinions might even be more favorable.

Sounds reasonable to me.

queue the inevitably predictable: "Ireland automatically spells FAIL.. what possibly can he and his staff of offensive QB developers and nurturers know about this that I don't? "

Well, YOU hired him Mr. Ross, so obviously you're gonna give him the reach-around.

If you define talent as physical characteristics, then what Jeff is saying is nothing new. Ryan has a prototypical build and athleticism that is off the charts. What dear old Jeff is trying to gloss over is that his decision making skills and pre-snap awareness are not in the same league with guys like Luck and RG3. However, you have to really like the fact that he is tranitioning into an offence that he already knows forwards and backwards.

I'll trust Philbin's/Sherman's opinions about Tannehill over Ireland's. I'm optimistic, though cautiously so, we may have found our QB for the next 6-10 years regardless about what the media, fans, or FO says about him. Either way...we'll find out in a year or two what Tannehill is made of. Prove 'em right Tanny!

:bobdole: Ok we get it...you hate the pick! You don't need to tell us in a dozen threads!

Exactly what I would expect a Jets fan like Mr. Ross to say. Thanks for confirming my opinion about you. PS: Donald Sterling is on Line 2 and Bob Nutting is on Line 3. They're asking if the three-way gang bang is still on for tonight.

It truly amazes me how everyone reacts on this board sometimes... Just because Ireland had a hand in the pick, people are all but certian it will be a bust... This pick speaks more volumes to Sherman than anyone else... Will the kid be our next Marino? I think that everyone hopes so but to just write him off because Ireland drafted him is assinine. If Belicheat had traded up and drafted him everyone would be talking about the genious of him and how he sees the full potential of the kid...

No, I would think that Belichick had lost his marbles.
