Ireland, Long - Connect the dots

Pretty sure Long was a leader and wasn't getting pushed around. Heck, he could have started it all being that he was here Martin's 1st year.

I always thought it was weird Jake Long left because he didn't like Ireland. I mean, how much would a player have to interact with the GM on a daily basis anyway? Not much, I'd guess. Now that the Wells report has come out, I started thinking, who does a lineman have to hang out with? I wouldn't be surprised if it eventually came out that Long didn't feel at home with a trio of thugs plus a guy who couldn't stand up for himself. Doesn't really make for a comfy work environment, you know?

Just some speculation on my part.

DUDE their wives HUNG OUT TOGETHER....Jake and Richie were homies

Ireland was probably correct in not over-paying for Jake Long. However, I still believe that Jake was better able to control Incognito than anyone else. He was one of the few guys who Richie respected.
While Incognito made a big public drive to try to get Jake to re-sign with the Dolphins, . At the end of the day the $ differential was not huge. Florida had the advantage of zero state tax. Ross had the whole Michigan alumni connection (and has the business contacts to create further massive wealth for Jake post football). Jake's young beautiful wife was buddies with Lauren Tannehill and it's a lot nicer living in South Florida than Missouri.
So why did he leave? Maybe Ireland did piss him off but I would not be surprised if Jake knew that Richie was out of control and was quietly happy to escape from his bipolar sociopathic bouts. Big Jake probably won't say boo, but his departure triggered Richie into the role as O-line team leader and that exacerbated the problem.

Jake Long was one of the guys.

He's lucky he's no longer here and he's with Jeff Fisher. He will be shielded from this, even though he's Player B and comes off looking about as bad as the rest of 'em, really.

hey for what it is worth after the season ended it was said by a player from the club, I THINK incognito actually(? anyone correct or clarify that?) that said Long didn't feel the love from Ireland. That the rams made him feel wanted and the dolphins were just too wishy washy type of thing? Maybe i'm remembering wrong but it was not too long ago I read/heard that.

This.

Read the Well's report and it's a logical conclusion that Long is right in the thick of it. Dude was probably sitting by getting his kicks and laughs off all this.

As Long got older and injured more frequently, he just wasn't the same player he was in year 1-2. His value dropped, plus the new CBA had an impact. Teams were not going to spend that kind of money on a LT anymore.
The notion that Martin and the collection of idiots might have played a part, but since he never commented about it after leaving, I doubt it.
His wife may have tired of the south Florida lifestyle. Blight, traffic, immigrant culture and no change of seasons.
On top of that add Jeff Ireland.
Of course he left.

No, I think Long really did hate Jeff Ireland

Incognito: Yea. For picking off zombies

Player B: Lol isn’t that why we own any weapons!?

Incognito: That and black people

Player B: Mmm def all black ppl

Four days later, Incognito and Player B discussed rifle scopes in text messages.

Player B: Yes. That’s a solid optic made specifically for a .308 battle rifle

Incognito: Perfect for shooting black people

Player B: Lol exactly

Player B: Or Jeff Ireland

Isnt it also that Ireland low balled him purposely because he was so caught up on Martin playing LT. Not only the drama within the oline, but a low ball offer and a REAL HC offering you more money? Doesnt seem like a hard decision.
