don know if this was posted yet but........

Dolphins GM Jeff Ireland believes that undrafted rookie Davone Bess could be a receiver Miami can "hang your hat on for a little while."

Barring movement after final cuts, Bess looks like a very good bet to make the Dolphins' roster. If he carries his momentum into training camp, Bess could wind up challenging Derek Hagan to be the team's third receiver.

Wow that's encouraging news. Especially in a position we desperately need help at....

that is good news!! and only a day after reading about how we may be looking for a wr and how our recieving core is being considered a weakness. it would be nice to find that help already in house.
then we also hear and read how hagan has been looking great so far and now bess has hagan looking over his sholder for the third seat. unfortunately after that theres not much talent at wr. it sounds like ireland just wanting to say something positive(for all players) about someone on the team. it would be hard to fathom ireland or anyone apart of the organization saying "aw the guy stinks and he's one of the first we cut" which is a good thing.
every player on this team now feels they can make it if they work hard and continue to improve.

I agree mino.....the simple fact is Ireland named Bess instead of just stating the wr corp is doing better blah blah blah.

Isn't that sort of a "damning with faint praise"? Team can hang their hat on him....for a little while? Still it's better than being non-committal I suppose.

Serioulsy I like the kid, but there was a reason that 32 teams passed on him seven times.

That's true, but the NFL is full of success stories of players who were late rd picks or undrafted who were big surprises.
How many people passed on Tom Brady.
Jeff Cross was a 9th rd pick (by today's standards and UFA). I believe John Randall was a very late rd pick of UFA.

just remember this isnt goin to be a team that lines up more than 2 WRs often...... everyone panicing about our WR depth is goin a lil overboard, We will probably take a WR pretty high in the upcoming drafts.... this team will hardly be a finished project come september, so why worry about Wr's soo much ?

That said... we have and oppurtunity to develop guys like Bess and Foster while the foundation is re-worked. Bess could very well be our 4th WR his rookie year.... and Foster WILL NOT be cut loose so soon.

I'd like to agree w/you, but I don' think I can. I'll agree early on we'll probably have a lot of 2 Back & even 2 TE's options, but as the game goes on if we're playing from behind, which we very well maybe, then we'll have to line up 3 WR's & possibly a 4th at times. The good news & it include Bess who this forum is about, is that he can line up in the slot position. He's a RB who's going to resemble L.Booker, short down passes, who can then juke.

I think Bess definitely makes this team. The only way I see him getting cut is if we end up signing T.Glenn or someone of that caliber. But what I actually think it's going to look like is Ginn & Wilford WR1/WR2, Hagan & Bess WR3/WR4. WR5 Camarilo or Foster,

Go Fins!
