I can't think of one player immature or not that Ireland drafted that turned out to be a great player. Good maybe, but great? Please help me on this one. He said this on Mike and Mike.

Probably means Vonte Davis. Who's had a solid career but not great. This is Ireland's problem. He thinks mediocre players are good and decent players are great.

I think he's essentially talking about Vontae Davis and Mike Pouncey there.

Neither are great and if you make your pick the highest drafted center ever, he better be great. Kinda like drafting a kicker in the first.

Well Pouncey looked like he was gonna be great, and Vontae Davis is great sometimes... for the Colts. Jeff Ireland is awful at his job.

Amusingly, the player Jeff drafted that I'm convinced is going to be great... is also the guy that Jeff didn't even scout until Steve Ross hired Joe Philbin and then Joe Philbin hired Mike Sherman, and then Gil Brandt said "Hey check this guy out."

Vontae Davis. If Principal Philbin hadn't run him and Dansby out of town perhaps our defense wouldn't collapse every other game. And seriously, if you feel Ireland was the one behind getting rid of those players, you are delusional. You can blame Ireland for not getting proper compensation and/or replacements for those players, but Philbin is the one who wanted them gone.

Just FYI - If you recall in Hard Knocks, the Vontae Davis trade was all Ireland. He was pushing for the trade. Philbin just got there and deferred to Ireland on the trade.

I'm delusional. Seemed to me Ireland asked Philbin if he'd like to move them after the Colts called him. At least that's what I saw on Hard Knocks.

Dansby was entirely overpaid. No big plays when he played for us under Sparano or Philbin so you can say what you want about how he played after he left or whatever but under two different coordinators the guy didn't produce any game changing plays like he was getting paid to do.

I watched the heavily edited episode and if you recall Philbin was constantly knocking Vontae for this practice effort. You would have to be a blind fool to believe there weren't private conversations between Philbin and Ireland that led Ireland to look for potential trade opportunities. It would make absolutely no sense for GM to trade one of his few bright acquisitions when that players was still in his prime if it weren't due to "coach/system fit". Ireland didn't operate in a vacuum. He absolutely made moves based on coach input, and if you watched Hard Knocks you would see that Vontae wasn't a Philbin guy.

Vontae Davis wasn't initiated by Philbin. Lets be honest - Vontae Davis was pretty immature while here and Ireland and Philbin both were losing patience. Its pretty difficult to want to coach a person who only thinks about themselves.

Ireland made some terrible decisions while here. I mean some completely atrocious decisions. But he did get us Clay, Wake, R. Jones, Pouncey, Wallace, Lamar Miller. He didn't exactly flunk the draft completely. He just had some terrible offseason signings and wasted picks. Brandon Marshall in hindsight should have worked.

You are lying. You didnt watch it buddy. Sorry, go watch it and get back to me because several of the things you said are just patently false.

And you are going around calling people "blind fools"?? Really?

Yep. I don't really blame the team for moving on from Vontae. You guys saw him on Hard Knocks. Dude was literally faking that he had to go take a piss because he didn't want to work.

That's the kind of **** you would expect out of a 12 year old.
