Ireland swinging for the fences what was up with that

Did he not use picks to get Marshall in the first place?? He's looking for value.

Some people think we can just offer a bunch of picks and people are just going to take it like Madden. Just maybe the other team is being ridiculous, or the simply don't want to move the player. It's not as simple as saying, "here take a 2nd rd pick for (insert name)".

I for one, don't mind him holding onto the picks if we're not going to get good value with them.

What's bothering me is that we haven't signed one single veteran receiver who can contribute right now.

I wasn't totaly mad at the draft we had but could not believe we didn't take a WR in the 2nd round. I like Martin and believe he's going to be a good player in time, but when you have the chance at a playmaker, you don't take a RT imo. I liked that he took Tanny but I wanted him to give him a weapon with that 2nd round pic and he didn't.

Ozzy rules!!

Well Ireland's defenders pointed to that quote at the time as proof that Ireland has a plan and was about to pull off a big move. Now that nothing happened there's been a little revision and they blame the idea all on media spin.

It probably was an unsubstantiated shot in the dark by Omar's newest competition.. The only fact we've gotten from any of Beasley's "reporting" is that he's a ****ing idiot.

truely dumb and dumber as far as beat writers go. And just because nothing happened doesn't mean there wasn't an effort to get something done.

Yeah, it's amazing. You can look at Omar's "work" and think it can't possibly get worse... and then here comes Beasley. It's like Omar set the bar on the ground, so Beasley brought a shovel.

Trying's not worth much. It still ends in failure. I respect people for what they manage to get done.

meh. I'd love to have andre johnson on our team. I'd love to think they'd take 2 1st round picks and send him to us. doesn't mean they would. I guess we could put a gun to thier gm's head, but if someone doesn't want to trade or they ask too much, what are you going to do? desperation got us a whole lot of quality players during wanny's years.

If everyone wasn't screaming 24/7 about "things" that comment wouldn't have been made. Besides wasn't that a "twitter" quote from a 3rd person?

I can only judge someone for what they do, not what they possibly tried to do. Moves out of desperation never work. Nobody wants that. I don't know how many calls Ireland makes in a day or how many avenues he explores. Just that none of them have worked. The only thing we can or should judge Ireland by is the team. That's the price of being in charge. We can all bring our own opinions as to how he's built this team. Mine is that he should be out of a job.

I think James Jones or Greg Jennings are expendable for the packers now, the way Randall Cobb played in week one. Maybe GB will offer something reasonable for either? I hope so

Greg Jennings is an unrestricted free agent. It has been widely reported that this is likely his last season in Green Bay due to many of their key players needing contracts this coming year. We aren't going to win the Super Bowl this year, so it makes sense to wait and acquire him via free agency.

It's really a win-win situation. We have Mike Wallace, Dwayne Bowe, and Greg Jennings all being available as UFAs in 2013, we have a massive amount of free salary cap space in 2013, and if Miami doesn't get help at the WR position now, there's a good chance that all of the people clamoring for Jeff Ireland's head will get it.

I still feel like we need some help now, but that does make sense. Guess Tannehill is just goina have to take his lumps this year. Sam Bradford didnt have many weapons at WR his rookie year and still played pretty decent, so we'll see how Tannehill responds this sunday

He only said that to keep those fans from flying fire Ireland banners above the stadium again. On second thought, maybe he wants a better picture this time.
