Irsay:Colts have not cleared manning to play

Irsay basically has to say that he is injured or else pay him 28 million dollars. This makes me think that Manning will be cut sooner, rather than later. I now wouldn't be surprised if that went down next week :)

Release him before he gets healthy is probably what's going through Irsay's mind right now.

I agree. If healthy, and the Colts don't want him, this would lead to him being cut before the draft which would work to Manning's favor. And Irsay becomes the owner would cut a hall of fame QB that was healthy which Manning would love I'm sure.

I still think manning signed that contract knowing he was injured. not wishing any ill will towards anyone, but manning understands the business side of football. he was paid handsomely last season and there's no certainty he will be able to perform @ his former level going forward. unfortunately, this is a business not a relationship.

Of course he signed that contract knowing he was injured. Both sides knew he was injured. He had the surgery as soon as the lockout was over. There's a reason why his base salary was 3.5M last year and 7M this year when the 3 highest base salaries last year belong to mark sanchez, michael vick, and matt cassell (all over 10M). Manning the bulk of his pay in the first 2 years all bonuses and gave the Colts an opt-out clause for the first 2 years. How is that being greedy? Most contracts don't let teams walk away from paying you ~30 million in guaranteed money. He structured a contract in good faith giving the Colts an out if they needed it. He needs to see some good faith on the other side.
