Don't want to add another QB thread because I'm about 75% convinced we'll have one of the two former probowlers by the end of the day. My focus then goes to the rather important man who will be charged to protect them. Is the 2nd year project LT from TCU ready to step up or is Miami looking at adding a Winston Justice in the 1st or Jonathon Scott in the 2nd this April? I just don't see a FA LT out there better than the one we cut (McIntosh). I also have a hard time envisioning us using a draft pick in the 1st 2 round on one given the needs at CB, S and LB that we have.

Thoughts?

No one knows.

I think it's fairly likely that Alabi makes it into the starting lineup somewhere, though. He could play Guard short-term.

Nah, not the right kind of player for guard. He's got great feet, but not a grinder.

All I know is that Houck was the one that really wanted him in the draft last year cause he saw a lot of potential. Great feet as you said PhinKev. I was hoping that a year to get stronger and get acclimated to the NFL has taken this kid to starting material.

I don't think there is any doubt this kid has potential. Very nice skills for a big man. The question of whether he is ready is another. HH did pick the guy out so that says something about his talent. I don't believe they would move him to guard, not when you are trying to develop a tackle.

Sometimes this works out, sometimes it doesn't. By the way, how's Wade Smith doing. He is/was talented to . . .

Canuk, that little boy in your avatar is very cute! I highly doubt Alabi will be anchoring the LT pos. I think we either sign AShworth or draft the guy from The U (name??) . I live up here in Maine and have seen my fair share of Ashworth and I think he is very good, not sure why some people arn't as high on him as I am. After Brees/Culpepper he would be our next key FA signing IMO!!

I know they have Ashworth earmarked to come in for a visit but to play LT? I guess I didn't see him play there. Was he Matt Lyght's back-up this past year? I guess we'll find out soon enough.

BTW, that's my boy, Jack, a pic from about 14 months ago. His godfather (my brother) is trying to convert him to a Packer fan and had him running around my Superbowl party with a #4 jersey on. His mother is a Packer fan too. Oh well, at least they don't like the Jets, Pats or Bills. That I could not deal with.

i think we should convert Alabi to Guard. We already have Hadnot as a RG, Carey as an RT, and are potentially signing Kevin Mawae to play Center for another 2-3 years, possibly grooming Wade Smith. LT SHOULD be taken by Tom Ashworth who will last a long time, so that leaves LG. We have Jeno James, but he gets knocked down quite often, i dont want to get rid of Alabi, but if we sign Ashworth...then whats the point in keeping Alabi?? we just convert him to LG. Keep Jeno, and have him groom Alabi to play LG.
