Seriously people. Everytime we sign someone the papers and websites are trying to make a story out of nothing.

"Oh, they are great on specials teams and will add great depth there"

Give me a break. We can only have 11 Special teams players on the field and last time I checked Special Teams doesn't win ball games very often.

I hope I am wrong because if Special Teams wins Championships then we are going all the way and that 80 to 1 odds isn't looking too bad LOL!

That is beyond a stupid statement.

Its for Special Teams and depth . . . we are more than 1 BIG name away, we need to build the base before we add the fancy eye candy. IMO special teams was WORSE than our D, and that is just mind blowing knowing that. If Parcells and company improves this team . . . in all 3 areas . . . we still should have plenty of cap room after this season, then we can bring in that guy or 2, along with another solid draft and push for the playoffs as early as next year.

OK, point out the last time that Special Teams won a Super Bowl.

The Bears did wonderful in the Super Bowl a couple of years ago didn't they. I'm Sorry for making such a stupid comments.

So we are going to pin them deep in their own end but we won't have a Defense to stop them anyway good point.

We also won't have an offense that will be able to score ala last year.

Hell teams will kick it out of bounds and we are screwed, sorry I am soooo STUPID! :sidelol:

agreed and since special teams and depth is the core of a football team and we are signing special teams and depth and that is the real theme then why would we get sick of it? With all that is lacking why would we go and sign someone like Samuel who will play like half our plays and be thrown at even less because teams run the football too. Then he gets injured and what are we left with? Not all the players total we signed for the same price as one of him. High priced free agents are a push you over the top piece of the puzzle, not a start to a football team missing the basics.

Who exactly should we have signed to make our team so much better? Our most dangerous weapon couldn't do much on kickoffs and punts because our special teams were beyond terrible. Our kick coverage unit was terrible so our defense was always in bad position. Yea, special teams and depth are horrible things to invest in, you're one of those people that would say "he's just a kicker".

Oh yea, there's still this little thing called the NFL draft. I'm pretty sure there are people in it that are capable of starting.

Gee, I dont know, I would take a SB appearance and loss, wouldnt you? Because thats what the Bears did with no offense, a good D and a GREAT special teams. So your example does nothing but support my point.

You're right. We would have gone 10-6 had we just signed Asante Samuel. Defending the pass was our lone weakness. Or was it stopping the run. Or was it the passing game. Or was it ST. Get the idea?

Maybe you should check I was one of the people saying that we should have kept Mare last year. I think a kicker is important. Oh, by the way where are all of you that torched me last year when I said that we would regret Feely on Kickoffs because his leg was so much weaker. I told you last year that he would struggle with Kickoffs and the only reason that he fared well on Touchbacks before was because of the strong winds in Giants Stadium pushing his balls deep. I told all of you to look back at his days in Atlanta when he was in a dome and I told you that he stuggled with touchbacks in a dome but I got torched for that too. Do you think that maybe our crappy kickoffs had something to do with our Kicker?

I guess there are no players in the NFL that can play special teams and actually play a football position with some success.

Good D? We will have depth though.

You are all saying Asante Samuel. I have never mentioned the name though.
If you would have read an earlier thread I posted on free agents you would have gotten an idea on who I thought I will repost it for you all.
