Don't be surprised if all newspapers and magazines tighten their security to the point where if you want to read an article, you will be forced to pay. This is the future.

They should just go with advertising around the page. Lots of companies will pay to keep a server up if they know they will get X number of hits each week. Few people will pay to read what amounts to an opinion when a click or 2 gets you to another article that's free and in this particular case, most likely more informed and better written.
