Is anyone on the full Ronnie situation?

Let's say we think CJ Spiller is the next Chris Johnson.

I'm all about defense in this draft but if we let Ronnie go then Spiller could be our feature back. He would be a lot more valuable then a Dez Byrant etc.

But the question I have is what are our full options with Ronnie?

Mainly as in can we get a draft pick for him if he signs with someone else.
 
If CJ Spiller is there he will very likely be BPA at #12 and we have to grab him. I think he's going to have an impact right away. After a pro day and the combines he may be talked about being a Top 5 talent. Chris Johnson is getting the Ricky Williams treatment right now in Tennessee. If they keep playing him like that he won't be in the league very long. I hope we always have two great backs like we do in Ronnie and Ricky. The play calling has to get better though.
 
ronnie didnt opt out of his contract... he will be back for his 6th and final year of his contract next year, cba or no cba. it doesnt benefit him to hit the market now post season ending injury yet again.
 
This defense sucks too much to spend the 12th pick on offense. I don't think Ronnie is worth enough in a trade because of his injuries and with all the time he split with Ricky his overall production isn't much on paper. I think the Dolphins best chance is to hope he is healthy this year. Between Brown, Cobbs, and Ricky they should be OK at RB.
 
Ronnie is only a RFA if he opts out of his contract. He said right after the end of the season that he will not opt out.
 
1) We would not take a Rb at 12...Way too much money to pay for running back when your line makes millions..

2) Not sure how good Spiller is...Is he worth the 12 pick in the draft..Rb's
are a dime a dozen.. Look at the all the mid to late round running backs that are very good in this league..

3) Most of these posters are correct Ronnie is going nowhere.. If he does opt out then we get a pick for him.. I wonder what he will tender out at?


I do agree we need a homerun hitter at RB..But I think Ronnie is that guy when he is healthy. I dont see how we dont go defense in the 1st round..But i really thought we were going offense in the 1st round last year...

I agree with most of your post....
I like Rb but he has never been a home run hitter RB in this league and never will. He is big and has decent vision but he lacks that gear to pull away from people in the open field. Maybe Kory sheets will be our lightning to Ronnie Brown's thunder? I believe we DO need a back with that extra gear, but i disagree that our FO will spend a first rd pick on it.
Ricky nor Ronnie has that gear......

Gotta disagree with you here... Ricky does still have that gearl. Did you ever see Ricky get caught from behind once he got past the secondary. It was pretty much a guaranteed TD! He is in his final year though so we do need to find that home run hitter at RB. Maybe Sheets is the guy...
 
I am not a fan of losing top talent. I'd rather get rid of White and Ricky or Cobbs.

Cobbs is very close to being as important as any other Running Back on our team. He can run, block, Catch and he plays a mean special teams. Cobbs imo is way to valuable to to loose. Ronnie imo is more expendable.

But it doesnt matter either way, all three will be back next year and the great question is what happens between sheets and hilliard knowing that 1 year later we might not have Ronnie or Ricky?

This is crazy, there is no way we take an Offensive players in the 1st or even 2nd round. Some here may disagree, but this team is real close, if Miami had produced on defense this year, we would now be talking about how we are going to beat the Chargers.

This team needs a quality M-LB 1st and foremost, then we need a young NT (Does not have to be great, but does have to be consistent), and finally, if we get a chance a true FS (Even though I think we already have someone to play that position).

A #1 receiver in the Draft is a luxury, and RB is an even bigger luxury and actually pretty insane.

NFL teams dont draft positions they draft players. If you know anything about what kind of a backer or FS you want-names ect. Than spit it, but saying we need this, here, with this pick when u know nothing about the draft is dumb.
