I realize we need a solid backup and possibly a starter for the first few weeks if daute is not ready. But it seems like the price tag on this guys is just too high. For what Harrington will get I would rather have just kept Frerrote. None of his teamates supported him in detroit. Everything pointed toward him being soft and not a true competitor.

I guess I just don't understand what all the hype is about. If/when he is signed my wish would be that he doesn't have to take a snap all season.

Do we really need another QB from Oregon's 2000 depth chart?

Not at all here, I personally would much rather have Jamie Martin especially since Harrington will be looking for a starting job next year somewhere if he has ANY success here..... For a 6th or 7th I'll take him but anymore then that would be foolish...

How excited can you really be about a backup QB? I think that Pep will be ready to go by day 1 and I hope Joey never sees the field in Miami.

Unless of course we are up by 20 in the remaining minutes. ;)

Frerotte turned down our offer. We wanted to keep him here and he decided to go. You do realize that Harrington's 2004 and 2005 stats were better than what Frerotte did last year, right? He's also about 10 years younger, hasn't been a career back-up and was drafted 3rd overall. Yeah, I'm excited about it....we just improved our team.

I agree. I wish Frerotte could have been kept in the fold, but he wanted something more than Saban was willing to offer.

As for backup options, I thought we should have inquired about Trent Dilfer.

im pretty excited hes a good addititon and is better than any other backup QB we have right now and hes a proven starter should cpep have any problems how can u not be atleast a little excited he is coming here

I am, I happen to have sunday ticket and I caught the Lions v Tampa game in Tampa.

Joey lead that team down the field with no time left and completed a pass to TE pollard that was rulled a non catch because he slid out of bounds, the drive was executed to perfection, and IMO that should have been a TD. This against on paper the best defense in the league last year.

When he had a running game he played well (2 years ago he had good numbers) , That team , the lions, was mired in controversy all last season, reported players that had drug problems, players falling asleep in meetings, and a running game that disappeared last year, all contributed to his demise.

IMO he has a chance to rebuild his reputation and IMO he knows that this might be his last chance to do so. He will have a good system to work behind and notwhithstanding losing Ricky and improved cast of characters to work with.

A young QB with a huge upside this might be a major steal in the offseason by the dolphins.

Great move, but again we will find out when he hits the field, and IMO he will be our opening day starter in Pittsburgh.

Jamie Martin can't stay healthy, Joey can.

Enough said! I like it!

Remember: Frerotte did not want to stay here... He left...

Don't know that Harrington is that exciting but I do like the fact that he really wants to be a Dolphin.

The whole way the Dolphins have have handled themselves through this trade, free agency and the draft has created a buzz which IS exciting.

Harrington is a very small part part of that but every cog in the machine has a purpose and I like what Saban is doing - A LOT.

We take turns picking our holidays but I have a deal with the wife I get to buy tickets if we make the playoffs (an expensive indulgence from the UK) so I'm expecting to be in Miami in early 2007!

I've only been once before and I'm wantng to come back.

You hit the nail on the head buddy.

I am fairly excited. I think Joey will improve here. I'm not saying he's going to replace Daunte, but he may become fairly valuable in the way of a trade after next season. We badly need someone with starting experience in case Daunte is not ready. I would much rather have Joey than Jamie Martin, who is about 150 years old.

I'm also excited. The reality is that Culpepper probably won't be ready to start the season. Yes, I would also prefer Ferotte to start until Culpepper is ready, but he didn't want to stay here. I think Harrington is the best option out there, and because of his age I am excited to see what a change of scenary will do for him.
