This is by no means a bashing thread towards Cameron. I love that we got him and still think it was the best choice for our offense and our team.

However, watching his press conferences reminds me a bit of Larry Coker from UM. He just seems like he may be an offensive genious but too nice of a guy to get the job done at HC. The way he continues to thank guys like Mueller over and over and just the way he speaks and his demeanor in general.

My worry is that he doesn't have the fire in his belly to rip a player if the need arrises. I actually worked for UM under Coker and although he had his strengths, inspiration and motivation wasn't one of them.

Maybe I am looking at Cameron to early... I just get that funny feeling inside when I hear him speak...

I am alone on this? Is it to early to have these concerns?

I don't think Cameron is anything like Coker. I don't think Coker would have had the balls to sit down his star receiver after he dropped a pass in practice.

Coker had very little control of his team and that eventually led to his downfall at Miami. I remember Coker's first game and there were players on the sideline with cell phones. He said he didn't know about but I still wonder if the players would have done that if Coker and his assistants had more control.

To nice a guy??? People are killing him and Mueller on this site for over being mean to Culpepper and Cutting Carter and trading welker.

Now we are going to say he is too nice??

Coker was clueless.

Maybe it's just me but I see the two things as being different. To me, ripping a player/coach/media and having to continue to deal with them on a daily basis is tdifferent than sitting down with a player to tell him he's cut and never seeing him again.

I just hope he's the type of coach to get pissed after a loss, rip a player for poor perforance, and tear into the media when they deserve it. I'm not looking for a Ditka type or anything like that, just some fire and a small amount of rage when appropriate. I just don't want to see or team walk all over him or not pay attention when he talks.

Dude, Coker won a championship. I dont care if Cams bakes the players cookies, as long as we win a Super Bowl thats all i care about!

Well, last year with Saban we had a coach who yelled and screamed at everybody. He even yelled at a staffer one time because she bought him the wrong kind of Little Debby donuts or something. Everyone pretty much had to walk on eggshells when Saban was in the training center I hear.

I think in today's NFL, you need a coach who is a moderate between the extremes of being a total "player's coach" and the Saban dictatorial, yelling and screaming, militaristic style. So far it looks like Cam is a pretty moderate kind of coach to me. He probably has a fairly long fuse, but I bet if things really started getting to him he'd give the players a good tongue lashing. One of his coaches when he played basketball for Indiana was Bobby Knight. Bobby Knight was about as dictatorial and yelling and screaming as it gets ... but that just meant he cared about you and all that. If Cam needs to yell at a player, he had one of the best yellers out there to show him how to do it.

I bet Cam will be a bit like Marty Schottenheimer except Cam probably wants to prove to everyone he can win in the regular season and in the playoffs. I bet that playoff loss to the Patriots last year was like a hard punch in the solar plexus. Hopefully, he'll take it out on the Patriots TWICE this season for us. If he has to do a little yelling to get us there, I'm sure he'll do it. I want to see us become a high scoring, dynamic team like the Chargers were last year. I want defenses to be intimidated by our OFFENSE for a change instead of just our defense. That's what we hired Cam to do .... get that damn ball in the endzone ... a LOT, every single game.

I was there when it happened and not to discredit Coker, but many feel that was Butch Davis's championship. Even during that year, players weren't paying much attention to Coker.

With the talent that team had, it would've been tough not to win it all.

Again, I don't wanna sound like I'm bashing the guy, but there is a reason he was fired after having one of the best winning %'s of all time. All I'm saying as I see some of Coker in Cameron and I hope I'm wrong.

We need the team to play better than it is and I just hope Cameron can make the team rise and do so!

DolphinsFan23, I hope you're right! Maybe I'll feel better when I see the fire on the sideline!

Give Cam some time, im sure he will find his niche. He seems like a players type of coach, which i think is good. He aslo told Daunte to his face that he was not in the plans this year. I think hes a straight shooter. You might be surprised.
