Is Carey at guard because of Haynesworth/Wilfork combo inside?

You betcha!! One of the best NFL Strategies EVER is play people out of position. The NFL is easy & that strategy is pure GENIUS!!

Carey liked it so much, he agreed to play for half price!!

I wonder if half of u even watch the games. Look at DT touch down Carey pulled ad blocked th lb at the second level and when the team went for it on 4th and goal who did they run behind Carey. There is no facts on this site anymore just stupid little kids.

I expect a different philosophy on the oline come monday. Preseason, we are trying different things. We didnt game plan against these teams very much. we went out there, and we had alot of one on one. we wanted to see how people handled things that way. Add Jake Long and this oline is just that much better. Just look at the browns offensive line.. if not for joe thomas, the browns oline wouldnt be nearly as good. Lets just hope that Sparano is the guy we thought he would be- An OLINE genius!

what is the big deal about running between the tackles, really? plenty of ways to get the ball to Bush and give him touches. draws, pitches, screens, swing passes, regular pass routes, return game? yeah, there are times when you just have to pound it up the middle, but overall I don't get the antiquated mentality that running up the middle is some crucial facet of winning offenses.

I actually like the reasoning behind the OP. 1) because NE doesnt have the fastest DE's so Columbo's most glaring weakness wont be glaring so much against them. 2) Well although Carey's on the decline, he's still a better RT overrall than columbo and wouldnt miss to much of a beat going back there in a pinch, give him a week practice at RT and he's ready to go.

so then you'd have Long-Incog-Pouncey- xxxxxx-Carey for week 2. And you get a week to figure out who's going to handle the RG spot. No easy task but I'd take this lineup over having Columbo as a starter. Sparano also said himself that the shortened offseason was to prepare speciffically for NE game one. iknow its an overstatement but still that strategy could be worth a try IMO...

A better strategy would just be to put a bowl of gravy in between them. Then we wouldn't have to worry about either for about an hour.

Make that a few pizzas, and you won't see either of them again all night!

We did not spend all of preseason and training camp in a shortened nfl offseason with Carey at guard just to prepare for the first game of the season. The season is 16 games long, not two. We will not make the playoffs just by beating the Patriots. I understand that everyone is trying to find a silver lining in what has a been a horrid offensive line, but this is wishful thinking at its finest.

reason, ****** and Ierland suck at their jobs.

I think Sparano may want the biggest possible interior line to counteract the Patsies' monster middle inside. Carey may not be too mobile thus limiting pulling possibilities but he should help the pocket from collapsing against these two @ 340 lbs. In fact, it's possible but unlikely the Carey move to the inside may be specifically for only the Patsies game. Although Colombo is a turnstile, the Patsies don't have a strong edge rush. After this game, Carey may move back to tackle and Colombo may be a reserve while someone else goes to guard. Maybe this is wishful thinking by me but everything I heard and seen from Colombo so far makes me think he bites the big one. Maybe I want to rationalize what seems like a bad decision (Colombo) by Sparano and if I'm right, the move might actually be pretty smart. Help me out here. Thoughts??

"the Patsies don't have a strong edge rush"

How many sacks from the outside will it take to change your tune?
The Patriots will be a different D this year in the 4-3. I'll be conservitive and say
3-5 sacks on MNF.
