Is Chad Johnson challenging Coach Philbin with new Twitter Avatar?

I don't give a **** what chad says though you do make an excellent point..

The guy is 34 years old and butting heads with the coach before the 1st preseason game is not a good sign..

The reason I think this isn't jumping to conclusions is:

1. Chad knows about Hard Knocks. He knows what was shown and he knows that everyone knows Philbin had this talk with him. The day after HK aired, he said he wasn't doing any more media.

2. Phlbin specifically said that Chad should be concious of how he portrays himself in public, because he is also representing Dolphins. I highly doubt Philbin will like his "star" WR representing himself (and thus the Dolphins) in such a way.

In any case, this is bound to cause more friction between the two, and Chad should know this. Its almost like he wants to create an uncomfortable situation. Unless Chad performs out of his mind in preseason, I think Philbin might just dump him to get rid of distraction and headache.

Anyone who thinks he isn't being provocative and in the process undermining Philbins authority (deliberately or not) is high.

Philbin went on national tv telling him to cut out the profanity and one of the first things he does is literally give his coach the finger. How does that make Philbin look, a guy it was widely commented on could have been harder on Johnson.

The rights and wrongs of the original presser situation don't matter, nor does the fact that the whole profanity thing is overblown.
CJ knows that his coach took a little national media flak for being pretty understated in talking to him about his language. To turn around and publicly disregard Philbin and flaunt his preference to keep it crude is stupid, the kind of stupid that gets you cut.

Which would be a shame because I like the guy and feel he could do well with/for Miami.

Either you have no idea what the word literally means or you're exaggerated. He didn't literally give Philbin the finger. Stop it.

And WV - you really, really need to get a life.

Did he figuratively give him the finger? Did he metaphorically give him the finger? I don't think so....

Well, I don't seem to remember him "literally" giving him the finger, so I guess its neither figurative or metaphoric.

This thread is ridiculous. My god

Chad the Johnson is about Chad the Johnson. Exactly what the Dolphins don't need. They need football players, not media "playas." ... I'm sure Ross loves him.

Chad Johnson isn't a moron. He's a smart guy with a high football IQ.

Let me explain something to you about WR's like this....

First, he was washed up when he left Cincinnati. Not in ability, but in willing to sell out to make a play. He's not willing to do anything that doesn't benefit Chad Johnson.
All that talk about him not being able to produce in New England with Tom Brady because he didn't know the playbook is nonsense. That's what he WANTED them to think. Like I said, he's not stupid.

The reason he couldn't produce there is because he wasn't willing to sell out and run the routes that put his body in jeopardy making tough catches, so he acted like he couldn't pick up the playbook. He figured eventually they'd just tell him to run odd numbers on the route tree since he was having trouble "understanding the playbook". Only Belichick didn't fall for it.

You saw how afraid he is to make catches over the middle on Hard Knocks. Garrard flat out told him that he had to catch that pass over the middle in practice that he was dropping... Garrard even went to so far as to tell him "He ain't gon' blow you up... catch the ball"... referring to Jonathan Wade.

Dr. WV is spot on about one thing regarding Chad Johnson... he's here to goof off.

He makes it difficult on a coach because he's so clever with how he goes about it. He still practices hard and presents a good working example for young receivers in practice. He knows that's enough to allow him to continue his antics, and makes it hard on the coaches to flat out get rid of him. Especially a rookie head coach with no established receiving talent.

The sooner Miami gets rid of him, the better off they'll be. Same as Brandon Marshall, except he can still play a little bit.

Dr Slimm nails it again.

Man jump to conclusions I just watched Hard Knocks and don't see how you guys draw these conclusions! A head coach ask him to not drop a f bomb and the player said ok. If we weren't on Hard Knocks no one would ever know. Guy looked like one of the hardest workers on the team next to Bush.

My conclusion: Anyone who is making close to ONE MILLION dollars to play a game ought to at least have the frickin' brains to act like an adult, not some punk thug off the block. I hope the Dolphins read him a riot act and that he either GETS IT (and behaves like a professional) or is shown the door, post haste. I think he was an absolute embarrasment on Hard Knocks when he was in that presser. BTW, I'm from Oregon, was a fan of his at Oregon State, and don't have anything against him. I just think he made the Miami Dolphins look like a bunch of s***.

Chad hasn't been a dominant force for years. Put up or shut up, Chad.

the problem with chad johnson is he hasn't produced. If chad came out of new england with 1000yrds and 12 tds. then the fact he is making an ass out of himself wouldn't matter. Brian cox embarassed the organization and acted like an ass, but he showed up on the stat sheet monday morning so you could deal with it.

I've read some far fetched things the past few days...."Vontae Davis is a cancer", "Garrard is better than Peyton Manning", and now "Chad Johnson challenging Coach Philbin with new Twitter Avatar". We know how to create entertainment here.

LOL. Even though I get steamed reading some posts, that one made me snicker. Thanks for keepin' it real, Zounds.

I love the team too guys, I just don't foam at the mouth. If we get a wild card this year (probably as likely as pigs flying out of my body and/or me becoming an overnight porn star) AND win the first round...I will begin to foam.

I am SOOOO high. Must be the Chad influence. OK, so I'm really not high...but I think Chad is all about Chad, and the team comes a distant second. I thought the same about Brandon Marshall as well. This year we may not have divas catching the ball (ok, we have an octagenarian wannabe diva), I think I would go with our journeymen receivers who show up with their chinstraps buttoned, ready to go.
