Have been browsing around today and found some interesting information with regards to Chambers.

Chambers catch percentages over the years. 53% in 2001, 52% in 2002, 49% in 2003, 50% in 2004, 49% in 2005 and 41% in 2006.

Now you say but we have had a bunch of mediocre QB's throughout the years well here is a comparison to our other recievers throughout the years:

2001:
Chambers 53%
Gadsden 59%
McNight 61%

2002:
Chambers 52%
Gadsden 63%
McNight 55%
Carter 47%

2003:
Chambers 49%
Thomson 44%
McNight 53%

2004:
Chambers 50%
Booker 48%
Thomson 49%

2005:
Chambers 49%
Welker 56%
Booker 45%

2006:
Chambers 41%
Booker 56%
Welker 69%
Hagan 52%

Now you say everyone drops balls? The top 25 recievers in the league currently have never fallen below 50% completion percentage here are some samples:

Reggie Wayne 60%
Marvin Harrison 63%
Andre Johnson 66%
Steve Smith 62%
Marques Colston 63%
Joe Horn 60%
Isaac Bruce 62%
Jericho Cotchery 67%

There are better some go as high as 77% i.e. Eric Moulds but on average they are 60% or above and they have never dipped below 50%

Chambers is currently ranked 76th in the league.

Thoughts?

Edit: Had to make some corrections

Do you realize that when Joey throws the ball away, he throws it in Chambers' direction because he's always lined up on the outside, right?

Harrington throws the ball away from anyone more than any QB in Fins history, and no.. I'm not saying that's a bad thing. However, whatever happens with the WR's right now is irrelevant to me, because most lack chemistry with Harrington, and he's not the QB of the future anyways, so who cares..

Here we go.

What it boils down to is semantics, really.

Is he good enough to be considered a #1?

-OR-

Does the individual think that he is a #1, go to, clutch, money
reciever that changes games.

IMO, last year was the first year he showed that he could be a #1.
I have not watched him enough this year to form an opionion.
My major issue with him is his propensity he's had since college of
snagging balls that are more or less in orbit like he's got glue on his hands,
but, dropping those 3rd and 7 buttonhooks that hit him in the chest.

...and before Harrington was here, Chambers was still up to the same ol', same ol'. His career has demonstrated that he is too inconsistent to be considered a legitmate #1 receiver.

Chris Chambers has never had the time to build chemistry with a single QB. He's gone threw more QB's than probably any "#1" WR in the NFL right now. I don't think it's fair to judge. As soon as he builds some chemistry with Gus, boom, he's gone. Now when he starts building chemistry (if he ever stops being OVERTHROWN) with Joey, it's boom again, because he won't be our starter next year.

Look at all the top WR's in the NFL, and look at how long they've been playing with whoever is at QB. Oh, and look how long they've been playing in that system as well. How many OC's have we had since 2001, like 4?

Absolutly Not !!!!!!!! The hell with the stats, i watch the games.......We need a #1 reciever and I'm sure Saban knows it..........I hope he goes out and gets one.....

Does the same not apply to the other receivers that have gone through these different QB's over the years? With the exception of 1 year Chambers has had the lowest completion percentage of them all.

If you think we need a number 1 that badly, what does that say about the rest of our team? WR is one of the last positions I'd worry about. I couldn't disagree more on the Chambers argument.

I dont think Chambers is in the top 10 in the league. I dont think he has yet proven # 1 receiver consistency, just flashes of it!

Yes he really is a #1 receiver, but that doesn't make him a regular pro-bowl receiver. CC always seems to make the tough catches but then he seems to lose his concentration and drop easy ones....the same thing with Randy McMichael. I am looking for CC to have a big day against the Vikings.

Me too, someone posted a stat on all the #1 receivers the Vikings have played this year and all but one had over 70 yards or some such so I don't expect any different with Chambers this week. Fred Smoot being hurt also helps his chances.
