Im just trying to get some opinions from people who have seen more preseason. I know he had a couple nice plays i saw but i also saw him drop a few big ones.

Do you guys think hes ready to contribute Monday Night and be an asset to the offence.

Pretty sure that he will see some action. His speed will be used to stretch the field.

wow which game did you see(CG) drop a pass?

I know Marlon drop a TD pass by Moore, but Gates seem to be sure handed..
He's ready!!

He changes the defensive mentality just by being on the field. At worst he's a decoy that forces deep coverage by a safety. That will open up the underneath stuff for Bush and Bess.
I think the Pats safeties and LB's will be a liabilty in coverage.

Maybe they can get their star new pickup AJ Edds to mind him. I would welcome that matchup.

Gates just needs a QB who can accurately get him the ball...he's been open many times this pre-season.

Yeah haven't seen Clyde drop a pass yet. Overthrown, yes but not dropped a pass, and he has made some pretty tough catches including a possession receiver-type catch on third down in traffic.

The guy regularly is behind the defense and has sure hands, it's no wonder he has made the team.

He is ready. I worry about his seemingly small stature but he has definitely showed that he is a baller. Not afraid to go up and get the ball and completely capable of getting past any DB in the league. He will do a lot for our offense just being out on the field. I like him!

Gates is ready! He has shown he can get separation on CBs and has just been overthrown. I think he will be our version of Mike Wallce from Pit.

He'll get better and better as the season gets going. he's going to have some rookie hiccups but he will be pretty solid. I think he will be a good compliment to Bess.

Henne barely missed him deep at leat one time. I think that Henne will connect deep against the Pats, make them pay for the onslaught.

6 times in the first half of 4 preseason games, C Gates beat both press coverage and a safety deep and was open and pulling away. Chad Henne missed him 5 times, Matt Moore hit him once.

What really amazed me about C Gates is that all 6 times the deep safety thought he had good position on the play and the Gates blew past him into the open. IMO, C Gates cannot be covered one on one.

Our coaching staff has been force feeding him on the Split End position where he will most run long streak patterns. Another thing I say was that D Bess owes C Gates $100.00 per catch because Gates was really opening the field for Bess and everyone else.

IMO, it comes down to if Chad Henne can hit a open Gates for a TD at least every other game. C Gates scored one TD in preseason (no one caught two TDs). But he could of scored 4-5 TD's if the ball had hit him in stride.

P.S. He is ready to rock.

5 times? really? and Moore didnt overthrow him at all? sure bout that? why must people like yourselves insist on making certain players look bad and others not?

Moore has missed him twice that I can recall. Maybe he missed Hartline one of those, but it takes time for the rook to hook up long. It will come.

I am thinking first play of the game vs. Pats.

You can't be sure yet. About the only thing we've seen is 9 routes. If that is all he can do, he won't be much use. He has to be able to do the full tree, and until we see that...you can't say for sure.

That's 9 more routes than Teddy Ginn can run.

Gates knowing 9 routes is more then enough for him to make a impact.
