If there is any discussion about personnel, all I hear is what Tannebaum thinks. Please tell me this buffoon is not the final word on how this roster is made up!

Mike Tannenbaum is running the show and has been excellent to this point.

Excellent? He's master of the off season splash with little to no results on the field. Anyone who would even suggest that Dallas Thomas is a good young Guard that can start can't be taken seriously.

Pretty sure our owner said Hickey still has control of the 53. Tannenbum is just a big name.

Hickey and Philbin are the fall guys.

If they win, Tannenbaum looks good for sticking with them, if they lose . . . he's justified in letting them go and finding new blood to take over.

This is Tannenbaum's team.

Exactly! Ross hired Tannebaum to do the dirty work so he wouldn't have to when the time comes!

except for 2 title game runs but I'm sure you guys wouldn't want chances to play for the right to get to the SB.

I don't know who is charge....

I think Kdawg's theory makes sense...

If they do well Tannebaum can take the credit, if they do poorly he can say all the moves were Hickey's decision and Philbin failure on the field...

While the Jets had a good run, Tannebaum got Ireland syndrome....out thinking himself...

Just a fair warning. Keep this thread on topic about whether or not Hickey is still the GM or not. Do NOT let this spiral into another comparison thread about teams from the past.

I asked this same question on another thread. I think it breaks down like this.

Tannenbaum is in charge of the strategic direction of the team. He has a vision for building the team into a consistent winner.

Hickey is in charge of putting together the roster. I assume that means pro and college scouting models, and building the draft board. I hope that also means final say on the actual picks and trades during the draft.

technically Hickey is the GM, but it seems to just be a title.

I'm not putting too much stock into the Dallas Thomas comments as of yet. There is A LOT of off-season to play out. Guards will get cut, the draft is pending, there will be purges come roster trimming in August. The comments on Dallas Thomas are just talk that is necessary to be made right now. Tannenbaum can't go to the podium and say, "Yeah, we know how horrible Dallas is and we are really looking to upgrade." It tells everyone we're in the market and raises the price of our targets, and it shows no confidence in the player in case we actually need him at some point. Following this offseason, it's clear that this regime does not want to dump player A until his replacement is in the fold, for the most part (Stills for Wallace, Cameron for Clay, e.g.)
I don't think they want to overpay for a guard so they're just waiting things out. Options will emerge.

I think hickey is taking care of the draft and putting grades on guys there
