isn't he a former defensive coordinator?

He strikes me as one of those coaches who is better suited to be a coordinator (ala wade phillips).

As I recall he runs a 3-4.

just curious....

okay, found this article online. So he is available.

He's a very good defensive coach. we should consider him.

Dick Jauron a possibility for Giants defensive coordinator
January 4, 2010 6:12 PM | 1 Comment
The New York Daily News reports: Former Bears and Bills coach Dick Jauron is one of the leading candidates to replace Giants defensive coordinator Bill Sheridan era, who was fired today.

Jauron was Giants coach Tom Coughlin's defensive coordinator in Jacksonville from 1995-98.

Dom Capers, another one of his Coughlin's Jacksonville coordinators, is another possibility. Capers currently runs the defense in Green Bay.

This season, the Giants allowed 427 points -- second-most in team history. They gave up 40 points in five games, which hadn't happened since 1966. They ended the season by giving up 40 points in back-to-back games, which hadn't happened since 1971.

also, he is quite familiar with all of our AFC East foes...

I don't think Capers leaves Green Bay. If the Giants have another season like this, Coughlin is on his way out. Were jacksonville's defenses good when Jauron was there? I don't remember.

i believe they were. Found this on Wikipedia..

Assistant coach
Jauron began his coaching career in the NFL in 1985 as the Buffalo Bills defensive backs coach. He was offered the position by Bills defensive coordinator Hank Bullough, who was the Bengals defensive coordinator when Jauron was a player.
After one season with the Bills, Jauron was named the defensive backs coach for the Green Bay Packers. He worked with the team for eight seasons, serving under three different head coaches: Forrest Gregg, Lindy Infante, and Mike Holmgren.
Jauron became the defensive coordinator for the expansion Jacksonville Jaguars in 1995 at the invitation of then-Jaguars head coach Tom Coughlin, whom he coached with at Green Bay. The Jaguars made the playoffs in three of Jauron's four seasons with the team, including an appearance in the 1996 AFC Championship Game.
Following his first head-coaching job, Jauron served as the defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions in 2004 and the first 11 games of the 2005 season before being named the team's interim head coach.

Jauron is from the Coughlin branch of the Parcells Tree right?

I wouldn't mind him, he is better than 90% of what is out there and he is familar with the AFC East.

I don't believe Jauron has ever ran a 3-4. He was 4-3 in Chicago, Detroit, Jacksonville, and Buffalo.
