"...All of these factors, as well as the motivation provided by his pending contract extension, could lead to the type of "Run-Ricky-Run" production that could instantly catapult Brown to larger-than-life status amongst Dolphins fans."

Give it a quick read and let me know what you think. Thanks!

I love Ronnie Brown's game. He is definitely one of the best all round backs in football. However, he will never be as pure a runner as Ricky was in his prime. Furthermore, he won't get the kind of carries that Ricky was getting since Miami had no one else to hand it to back in the days.
Bottom line, i think Ronnie will have another solid season (1200 yards 8-10TDs) but i sincerely doubt he will be top 3 in the league let alone #1.

Thats every year in preseason. Who knows one day they will be right but seriously I dont think Brown could take that kind of work, he never has.

if he was pretty much the only back that we got the ball to on our team then yea he could have that kind of season he was on the way a couple of years ago

I think Ronnies breakout year was supposed to be 2007 where if he had of stayed healthy, he would have probably ended up with over 2000 all purpose yards. I personally dont think Brown will ever go near the 1850 rushing yards that Williams achieved back in 02, but if he could consistantly go over 1000 rushing yards over the next 3-4 seasons I would be delighted with that.

there is aprobably a reason he never gets that kind of work. He just isnt that guy. people cant be satisfied that he a really good back, they have to justify his supposed greatness

Hey D. This doesn't make too much sense to me because of the nature of Brown's injury in 2007.

He looked very capable of carrying the load and also putting up monster numbers in that season, but went down on a freak injury trying to make a tackle on an interception, so it's not like that injury was tied to increased workload (e.g. he would have suffered the same exact injury even if he was sharing carries, etc...)

But feel free to send a rebuttal my way (I'm sure you will!).

P.S. The point of the article was to simply lay out some factors that could potentially suggest a breakout season while including a subtle tie to his friend and mentor, Ricky.

@Slim - I'll have to take DeMeco Ryan's opinions on Ronnie's "pure running" abilities. He ranks him as arguably the toughest runner to take down in the entire league...which speaks volumes to his natural running ability and instinct.

Players have opinions just like anybody else. These are the same players that voted Favre and Brown to the pro bowl over more deserving playes such as Slaton and Rivers as well as Pennington.

7 games is not an indication of being able to carry the load for 16 games.
Thats why they play a full season.

I think the fact that the texans and chargers finished where they did had something to do with the probowl voting. Maybe not so much for slaton, but if your the QB and your team finishes with that kind of record, it doesnt reflect well on you.

chargers made the playoffs, jets did not Favre went top pro bowl. Its not a big deal, the pro bowl is a popularity contest.

o.j. simpson didnt have a huge year till his 5th year soo its possible, plausible? maybe not but possible yes it could happen.

Well he had a pretty damn good 4th year with 1251 yards but anything is possible although not probable.

we've all been waiting for it - next year seems to be his best chance of putting up a year like that. if everyone can stay healthy, our offensive line should be no joke next year. but between having ricky behind him and pat white supposedly being the wildcat guy next year, he won't touch the ball nearly as much as ricky did in 2002 - which i think is for the better. we want ronnie here as long as humanly possible - no need to turn him into an eddie george. liked the article - keep em coming hugo.

Who peed in your fruit loops?

fruit loops are not a good cereal, captain crunch is much better. Much more taste per bite. dont tell me fruit loops would be the best cereal if more people ate them. Im basing this on pure taste not a feeling on fruit loops.
