With the Jets now showing that they have a solid foundation that can bring them on a Super Bowl run, and Miami now bringing in an aggressive defensive mastermind to supplement a team that won the division a season ago, do you see this classic rivalry becoming the next marquee rivalry in the NFL on the scale of Colts/Patriots? Especially considering the young talent at QB for both teams.

As much as I hate the Jets, I think it would be AWESOME if both teams played at a high level for years to come so that we can have a classic, marquee matchup twice a season.

Now that we have quality Def Coord in Nolan, we need to have his heir apparent grooming from day one....that could be Sheridan. Reason being, once he turns around our Defense, which he will within a couple of seasons. He'll be off to another Head Coaching gig for sure. I've posted this in other threads....Promoting from within when you have a great squad is perfect....but not so when you have a poor one. Thank you Tuna for not promoting from our current staff once Pasqualoni was fired!!!!!

Oh yeah, sure our rivalry will continue to grow. :)

It was already a great NFL rivalry.

The games are always close and very entertaining, especially the prime time games. I always hear people from around the country saying how exciting Jets-Miami games always are.

People seem to have lost the hatred for the Jets with the Patriots rise to prominence. But the Patriots are still small potatoes compared to the Jets, they are our biggest rivals and it's not even close. I get as sick when the Jets win as i do when the Dolphins lose.

I don't see them as a marquee rivalry. However, the matchup between the 2 is definitely getting their swagger back.

if there's one dolphin game i want to see next year, it's a jets-dolphins matchup ...

those two teams hate each other with a passion, they are playing tough, smash mouth, old school football, and they are both up and coming forces in the NFL

...

with that being said, **** THE JETS

When did it stop being one of the greatest rivalries? Guess it's a matter of perception.

It always has been a great rivalry. Certain games get consistant air time in Europe and the Jets vs Fins is always shown, even if its not a primetime game. Over here, only the biggest games with the most appeal get shown so that says it all really. After the NFC East rivalries and Bears vs Packers rivalry, its probably nowadays the next biggest.

But I know the point being made by this thread. With the Jets now being vastly improved, with a new trash-talking attitude and a massive bone to pick with the Fins, this rivalry is starting to heat up even more. With the Fins already improving their defense by hiring Nolan and a young team looking to add key additions to make it a playoff contender, it would seem this rivarly has more going for it than any of the others right now.

we're on the precipice of 5 in a row.

You have to get to 4 too, using that logic we are on the verge of 2 in a row.

Jets-Dolphins has always been one of the great rivalries in the sport. It took a backseat to Jets-Pats w/ all the Parcells/Belichick nonsense but even though we can't count out NE I think the Jets and Dolphins will be battliong for div titles for a few years to come.

That is very true. And seeing the Jets lose almost gets me as giddy as a Fins win. Almost.
