I have to say that there have been a growing # of mock drafts that have us taking a DT with the #9 pick and I for one completely disagree with the pick. Granted, I'm a huge Okoye fan and even think Branch is gonna be a player but I don't see how so many ppl (Fox Sports being one) can think that we would address the DT position with the #9 PICK.. Matt Roth is a guy who can play inside and we still have Traylor Manny Wright Fred Evans and Rod Wright. Now I know many of these guys are unproven but what's to say one or two won't pan out.....Fred Evans supposedly is a beast and a guy who should see a significant increase in playing time this year. Rod Wright is a guy who last year around February-March was a potential first round pick who slipped bc of his shoulder injury. If the guy heals, which we have no reason to think he won;t, the guy can be an absolute beast. Matt Roth is also a guy who's made great strides since his rookie campaign and Traylor is a guy who seems to not age....Manny Wright is also one who will come in and if he finally stops crying can definitely be a good contributor to the line....Do people agree with me? Are we ok at DT right now? We still have way too many holes to fill for people to think we can draft for depth at DT in the 1st round

I agree trate. We should not take a DT at number 9. I like Branch and Okoye, but I think we would be much better in other areas.

I was just reading a mock on Fox Sports that had us picking Alan Branch? I was wondering the same thing as I read the mock and I have read other mocks that also have us taking a DT. As many needs as the Dolphins have especially along the OL I just can't figure it unless there is something I don't see or a rumor were not privy to.

I have been wondering the same thing. Wtih all the young DT's we have and Traylor it would seem adding another young DT would be overkill. If anything maybe get another experienced veteran in case Traylor gets hurt. So I definitely agree with your assessment. Even though I'm a proponent of drafting BPA I think drafting Leon Hall over a DT at #9 would be just as good if not better then drafting Okoye or Branch, who I'm really not that high on to start with.

First of all you have to differentiate a DT from a NT.They are different

If you are referring to a NT Personally I dont think its a position of dire need but I do think we should consider drafting one if our FO considers that a player available is the BPA.

I will give you an example. The year we drafted Carey we still had Timbo but it was obvious he was on his last legs.

IMO we should have drafted the BPA at our spot in that draft which was Vince Wilfork.

However we went for Carey which was an area of immediate need which is understandable given our inadequate drafting to that point.

Carey has turned out to be a decent pick but he wasnt of immediate help as Wilfolk was who started in his rookie year replacing none other than our existing NT Truck Traylor.

Its the old question of BPA vs need and although there are many GMs and HCs that give lip service to drafting BPA there are very few who can actually resist drafting for need.

im going with CK and seeing ted ginn jr as a nice pick for us.......but id love a trade down scenario where we still get ginn jr.....but DT is not an issue for us right now....lets do this what are our top 5 issues right now: I'll start:

1. QB-I think this can defiitely not be #1 is Cpep gets healthy or if Carr or Green come in.
2. O-Line is huge for me, although I;ve never been a big fan of getting one in the 2st. we have 2 2nds and can find quality players then.
3. Secondary-I think we still need a player or two here
4. WR-I think a playmaker here is needed so that we can move Chambers to the slot.....Our WR will be set then and we will have a nice core for the future with a rookie and Hagan in the wings
5. TE-I dont think Davd Martin is the answer and think we need to get one either via draft or in FA next year or this

Nowhere do you see DT

I WAS YELLING AT MY SCREEN THAT DAY FOR US TO GET WILFORK ALTHOUGH CAREY HAS TURNED OUT OKAY.....BUT TO GIVE UP A 4TH TO KOVE ONE SPOT WAS LUDACRIS.....AND HONESTLY I DONT WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT ANYMORE....MY BLOOD PRESSURE JUST WENT UP....:sidelol:

ANYWAYS ID LIKE US TO POSSIBLY ADDRESS THE POSIITON IN THE LATER ROUNDS

If we had picked Wolfork I wonder who that extra pick might have been we used to move up one slot to get Carey? Of course it probably wouldn't have been any good anyway with Spielman and Wanny handling the draft.
Is it true they had a system where they used a dart and a board with baloons to make their selections?

EDDIE MOORE'S BROTHER

HEY GUYS I WAS READING A MEDIA GUIDE FROM 2001 . and in this guide we had drafts where we drafted 2 wrs , a rb a te, and three olinemen and then we had years where we drafted mostly defense and special teams. back in 1999 we drafted thre backs . rob konrad, jj johnson and cecil collins and then we drafted fb deon dyer and travis minor the next year.
but in our history we have never drafted a franchise qb at least not since marino was anyways.
my point is could cam draft 3 olinemen and 2 wrs and a rb this year and draft a qb next year ? i am just using the wr position because we are really slow there . :dolphins:

I also wanted Wilfork that day...I was in the chatroom and there was this other guy and me hoping for him cos I knew that Timbo was getting older plus he had been hurt too...same thing with Traylor....we do need a NT and Branch would be a good one...we have some young DT's but none of them is a real NT...having said that, I don't think we'll go NT at 9.

Ozzy rules!!
