I like Oliver a lot and think he has star potential but he does not look like a Patriots type DL to me.Not big enough to play inside, too short to play DE.

Does he fit what Flores will be running here?

Could he transition to LB or is that too big a stretch?

Thanks

Houston used the 3/4 as well. He's talented enough to play NT despite his size.

Yes he's a fit. No, he can not play NT at 287lbs. Nobody can play NT at less than 310lbs at least but if we were to get him Flores would find great ways to use him.

Yes, elite players can play anywhere
Even for his day Dwight Stephenson was undersized for a Center. I believe he played at 255-260 lbs, but he tossed around much bigger NT with ease. Just ask Fred Smerlas

I don't expect him to be available either, I was more curious about what kind of players Miami will be looking for.

We assume they are Patriot type players but Flores is his own man so there will be some differences.

I think they want physical, tough, intelligent players who are team first type guys but beyond that it is a bit of a mystery until we see a few Grier/Flores drafts.

We don't know how much influence Grier had in previous years to really know what he will do.

This is the type of talent that you have to ignore the fit, IMO. Too good of a player to pass on regardless of scheme. We won't have to worry about that though. I find it laughable whenever I see mocks that have Oliver (and Devin White for that matter) within our range. Both of those guys are top 10 locks and they should be.

Aaron Donald was the premiere defensive player in the draft the year he came out, and he dropped out of the top 10..not all of the GMs are really good at evaluating talent.

Voch Lombardi convinced me his hand fighting is sub par.

I learned my lesson when Voch pointed out TJ Watt's natural hand fighting instincts.

Pump your brakes on Oliver at 13 is all I'm sayin'.

I think DLine is gonna be the pick at 13, but Oliver will be long gone.

I find it hard to believe a bottom of the league team like the Fins could complain about Oliver not being a 'fit'.

It's not that people are complaining on whether he is a fit or not, but rather since we are rebuilding we might as well do it right. I mean, at least with our draft picks and such. Now UDFA, scrubs from the AAF, arena league, Publix, or Checkers, etc., I think we are in a beggars can't be choosy situation. We need to fill out our roster and who knows. Someone like that might surprise. If not, maybe they can be the backup grill man in the team cafeteria. ;-)
