Just wondering how everyone here feels about Clay. I know he missed some time but when he got some chances he showed some flashes of what he could do.I've seen lots of posts about how we need to draft a seam TE but I wonder if we already have what we need with this kid.Does anyone feel that he could develop into a top player for us?

We still need a seam busting TE.

If you look at how the Patsies use Hernandez, that's how I envision Clay will be used here in Miami.

A big threat TE would be nice to add alongside Clay.

Why would I be down on him, he did great as a rookie...

I think he could be good. However, if you were trying to spread teams out, could it hurt to have him out there at FB, line up say a Fleener and a Fasano at TE, and then still have Bush and your recievers out there? It would be another guy the other team would have to account for.

Add a Ladarius Green to go with Clay and you will have two nightmare match up issues for the defense.

Clay was beating Brandon Flowers like a drum in the Chiefs fame. Pretty damn impressive.

Clay is 6'3 239lbs

Gronk 6'6 265lbs

Gates 6'4 260lbs

Graham 6'6 260lbs

I think Clay is a solid #2 TE/FB hybrid, but as far as a true mismatch go up and out body someone for the ball type like the guys listed above, i just think he is slightly undersized

I just hope he gets a chance to play more next year......I have to agree that there's a couple of TE's in this draft that could be playmakers for us....Philbin said he'll use some double TE sets.

I like Clay as an H Back or backup TE. I don't want to depend on him being a great starting TE.
