Anytime I have seen footage of Ginn, he just always reminds me of Dante Hall. A fantastic returner, but an average enough WR. They are also pretty similar in build: Hall 5-8 and 187 & Ginn 6-0 and 180.

No. The first thing that makes them different is that Ginn was a starting WR at Ohio State. Meaning he has experience at playing the position. Hall was a running back for a predominately running team at Texas A&M and didn't become a WR until a few seasons ago when then KC's head coach Dick Vermeil told him that he had to do more than just return kicks.

At the moment, Ted Ginn isn't anything in the NFL because he hasn't done anything yet. To call him 'just' another Dante Hall seems presumptuous. At least Dante Hall has achieved a certain level of NFL success. I'm not saying this to put down Ted Ginn in any way. I hope he achieves a lot more than Hall has at receiver and returner but there's tremendous pressure being put on the guy. It's as if it'll be a huge disappointment if he's only as good as Dante Hall. I know everybody wants the best from him and has certain expectations from a fairly high first round draft pick and it's only natural to be excited about such players but the truth is nobody knows what he's going to be like until he's out there playing games.

And that statement can be applied to EVERY rookie, every year. Quite frankly, there is a lot of pressure placed on each 1st rd pick, especially those drafted in the top 10.
However, with respect to Ginn vs Hall, Ginn was a MUCH more accomplished player than Hall was in college and I would expect more from Ginn as I'm sure the coaching staff does.

With the money Ginn will soon be on, he would want to be able to handle pressure, which is the same for any professional athlete. I would be happy to accept 2-3 Dante Hall like seasons from Ginn, but after that he would have to break out.

You think 4" in height is similar?

:sidelol:

first of all Ginn is 5"11 , Ginn has yet to achieve anything in the NFL. The knock on him is will he be able to produce at this level? I know all the homers are going to say we have the best draft, Ginn is great but slow down and wait to see if he can get off the line first. The NFL is very physical so hold all judgements til the pads are on and regular season starts. As of right now we reached for a punt returner who has a great family.

I'm sorry, not top ten picks, from them you expect success or your front office failed miserably.

Expectations are normal and fair for a pick that high.

If you 'you tube' Ginn and don't see that he is a better receiver than Hall was in college, you might consider contacts.... He might look like a 'Dante Hall' because he was a dynamic returner in college, but he was a better receiver than Hall in college.

That said, he has to prove himself before any comparisons are made. The pads come on in a month and we'll begin to see. However, the one indisputable fact is that he has better football speed than Hall...how he uses that speed is what will determine whether we see him as a bust in 3 yrs or not.

...he was much better than Dante Hall in college.

With the potential Ginn has to be a complete bust, if he can return kicks half as good as Dante Hall I would be happy.

Ginn is much more like Santana Moss except I think he will be a much better pro but you have to give him time to develope. But really, why does he have to be like anybody? Can't he just be Ted Ginn and see how that turns out?

Hall is tiny and Ginn is taller and more of a sprinter.

Really? How many TD passes did DH have in college? And was that competition top flight?
