Is Henne for real?

My bad for another Henne thread
though this question could be the answer
we have been looking for since Marino..

If Henne is for real that means Sparano and Ireland will be rewarded
and the dolphins have a real shot at the playoffs
regardless of the offensive line woes.

We have seen Henne perform well in past year preseason games
though something is different about henne he seems to be more confident.
After all the henne bashing it looks like he is settling in to be the guy?
Will we know the answer to this question after new England?

Who the hell knows?....I guess we'll find out won't we? Its hardly a given at this point.

Their has been alot of attention on Henne and last year. When last year it was coaching #1 and system, #2 (wildcat BS crawl offense). Those have been changed. Henne has been witnessed as being in charge of this offense. I dont know how much more you need to see whether it be preseason or not?

Does that mean Henne doesnt screw up? of course not, the new england patriots capitalize on turnovers better than most if not all. What matters is if Henne's screw ups become 2 TD's that follow or game winning drive. Those are the things that people will forget if Henne becomes a 20-10 TD/Int ratio guy instead of 15-19.

Personally, I think Henne won't get the job done. That said, we've seen people come out of absolutely nowhere to have great seasons in the NFL.

Henne looks promising in practice games... but he has a poor history in real games.. We will see soon enough..

Actually, he has never looked particularly good in preseason. His career average and per-preseason passer ratings have never been good. This preseason -- and believe me, I'm not saying it's proof of anything -- has been a big leap forward for him.

I think the other thing to remember is, how "real" does he have to be to get us where we need to go?

His season QB ratings usually hover around 75. If he can get that up to at least 85, that would be all the difference we need IMO.

So, is he for real? I think his performance this preseason suggests he can indeed be an 85 rating guy.

Being "for real" doesn't necessarily mean he has to be Dan Marino.

Will Henne turn it around this season? Hopefully. It all rides on his shoulders. This is make or break for him. He did show signs of a turnaround this preseason. Whether it translates into the regular season is a different story. I'm going with cautious optimism for now. I've seen too much of him in the regular season to call this a complete 180 on his part.

The first 3 games are as good a test as any. New England, Houston, and Cleveland don't exactly claim stellar defenses. If Henne can play well enough to win 2 of those games, then I'll be a little bit more convinced. Of course, he's going to have to do it consistently this season if he wants to continue to play on this team beyond this year.

This new system seems to be the breath of life into the checkdown robot. He has looked night/day better than last year. I expect there to be growing pains with a new system and a short off season, but it could help us too - early on nobody is going to have any film of chad and his new scheme.

Half way through the year when we play those second division games that's when we should see Chad sink or prove himself.

doubtful but I would be stoked if he did.... until proven otherwise, his play through 27 starts is hot garbage

I hope he does great. The irony will be in that he is a free agent next year right? Does he say see ya to Miami, and hello to a big paycheck?

No surprise here contract year henne knows it and will give it his all
it is always the year after they get a big contract you should worry.
As the decadence and self inflating hype kick in.

I personally hope he does turn himself around and delivers stud QB performances on a consistent basis. Another telling sign of how he has progressed during training camp and preseason games is if he's voted a Captain by his teammates, because imo,if he's voted a Captain by them,it means he's earned their respect and confidence in him to lead them.

If he plays above average we will be a good team. We have been an above average QB away from the playoffs for a while now. I hope he can deliver. This new offensive scheme looks to be very QB friendly. If you add a nasty D that bends and doesn't break with above average QB play i think we are a really good team. I want Henne to play like Flacco not Snatchez during the season.
