It certainly helps. Henne isn't Dan Marino and never will be. It would be in his long term interest to give him as much help as possible. We've got the OL, we've got the RBs. Get him a decent #1 WR and we've got a pretty good offense.

It is a thin line between reasons and excuses.

How can having one awesome WR help a QB become better? I think the reverse is true.

Henne will improved based on his own talents. Having several good WRs like we have is better to help a QB improve. It makes the QB look at different WRs instead of just throwing to one guy most of the time.

For sure it helps him put up better numbers and win games for us. But I don't get how it helps his "development." How does it make him a better QB?

At first I was smitten with the argument that a #1 receiver actually helps the growth of a young QB. But then it sort of stopped making sense, except from a confidence point of view - better receiver = better plays = better stats = confidence. But it doesn't seem to help Henne actually develop MOST of the skills he needs, like reading defenses, making the right audibles, communicating with his teammates, learning to limit mistakes, staying calm under pressure, etc.

I'm all for the #1 receiver, but am I way off on this?

I don't really think so..Henne is going to develop if he has the ability to develop. Yeah sure having a reliable target is good but it doesn't mean he'll get better. Its up to Henne to get better, not a WR

I think he passed to 8 different receivers in his first start. Matt Ryan passed to 6 receivers a game at most last year, I personally think if he spreads the ball around the offense is better off. But, its up to the players to get some YAC!!!

his devellopment i don't know... but him being more confident in throwing deep, yes

let's face it, it's hard to be accurate on out patterns, but imagine 15 yards deep post, corners or go routes... not only is it harder, but if your WR isn't getting separation and isn't fighting for the ball when it comes his way, how in bloody hell do you expect him to throw them and be succesful ...

i was hoping ginn would be of some help for that, but so far he's been a MAJOR disapointment. Henne needs a big body who can get open downfield, and when the ball comes he'll go get it... right now, Anquan boldin would look VERY nice in teal if you ask me (i wasn't a big suporter of the idea earlier this year, but hey we desperately need to give something to henne)

JT at least you honored your bet. Capt. Lou(ser) and buffalo soldier still have'nt changed their sigs even though it was only for a harmless week.

just never know, though, what receiver clicks with a QB. maybe henne and hartline just work together, maybe the receiver that ends up making henne great is not on this team yet.

working with what he's got right now, I'd say ginn has a better chance to excel than when pennington was in there, but he needs to hang on to balls and learn to run after the catch. bess is another welker, maybe quicker, too. hartline is looking like a nice player, but clearly they dont have a game-changer type guy.

2nd, ginn, and roth for boldin?
id realy rather not give up a first..

Is that deal even possible? or fair? from our perspective and ARZ?

Boldin is worth whatever he would cost. The guy is a beast he gets separation, fights for the ball, gains YAC like it's easy and is tough as nails.

Wait a minute... haven't I been reading a year of "Ginn is never going to develop until Henne gets in" posts? Now we're starting "Henne is never going to develop until we get a real WR1"?? Come on guys...

It's a vicious circle.

honestly dude, it's like shooting fish in a barrel...OF COURSE! imagine DCM without the Marks Bros...ok?! or McDuff...or Rev Fryar...nuff said.
