Every OC and DC in the league and hasn't made an offer to one yet? I don't think I've seen an owner interview this many candidates before. Doesn't he have a clue yet what he's looking for?

He's stringing along the press with these reports while he waits for his target. The question is who that target is and why there is a wait. Is he waiting for Carroll to get more recruiting done to leave USC in good shape? Is he waiting for Parcells to leave the Cowboys? Is he waiting for Rivera or Cameron to become available after their seasons end?

While I don't completely disagree with this theory, why interview 3 guys in one day if you are stretching it out?

Interesting theory.

I'm glad Huizenga's being patient this time, Saban seemed more like an impulse thing and look where that got us. I thought we we're going the same route with Pete Carroll this time but now I honestly think he's just gathering info and advice while waiting for either Cameron or Rivera, my guess is Cameron.

I think they are trying to make sure they turn over as much rocks as possible, from College, to coordinators, to old HC, current staff, and up and comers to make sure that we have a shot at a great coach that is going to have some longevity in the position. none of this 3 and out type coach. We have a story book franchise that has taken in some coaches that at one time or another we second quessed ourself and based on that we can be successful with them in the same way they were with other teams. Miami has its own particular way of playing football and each coach has problems identifying that. JJ for offense (but ignited the Defense allala the Killer B and No Name Defense), Wanny (The run game, but could pick a QB to save his life) Saban (college tactics dont work with grown men when it comes to transitioning all that talk into the players and have it displayed on the field. I believe the top 5 will be

Cameron
Tomlin
Whisenhunt
Capers
Rivera

Dark Horse (Ryan---Defense Defense Defense) & Mora Jr (Energetic, young passionate coach, that has said some wrong things but atleast takes it like a man and doesnt run from it (in the media))

Of the later too, I add them in as though if they make the cut it will not suprise me.

Who would suprise me

Gailey
Martz
Lewis

I think the fact that 3 of top candidates are still in the playoffs, is a big piece of this. If the Bears and Chargers lose this weekend, things will start moving fast. If not, then I'm guessing a final choice might not be made until after the first week of Feb. We could be taking a big gamble to wait that long, but if we get our top choice, it might be worth the risk.

I think he's afraid of repeating the Saban mistake so he's looking at as many people as possible. I can't blame him. He's feeling a lot of pressure to get it right this time.

No doubt. I keep waiting to hear that hes going to interview the Admins from all the Miami Dolphins web sites..."Today, Andy Cohen was interviewed by Wayne Huizenga. Andy, vacationing in Sioux City, Iowa, was met by WH's private jet".

Its getting comical.

I am not sure who his top 3 candidates are. I am still stuck on the idea that Wayne wants a big name. Replaced Shula with Johnson, reluctantly went with Wanny only because Johnson worked him on it. Then went to Saban.

And in this case, initially went after Carroll.

Frightening.

Still hoping for a former OC without HC experience to take the job.

i dont understand why everyone wants this process rushed...it wouldnt make sense hiring someone until the superbowl is over. why not interview as many people as possible?

Bailey used to be an executive headhunter and he is conducting the HC search in the same way.

The org.interviews as many qualified coaches as possible .At some point they will narrow it down to 5 coaches who will get a second interview.

Unlike previous occasions there does not appear to be any clear favorites.

If there were one I think we would see a lot less activity.

I've said it a few times, and the Herald did was well. Wayne is compiling a master list in which they'll pick 5 candidates to interview. This is just like seeing who in interested and who isn't and who doesn't fit your requirements at all and waste everyone's time with an interview.

However, I'd still rather have Wayne give the reigns to Mueller and let him run with it. I'd really hate to see another HC with total control, again.
