Is it homerism to predict the Dolphins win the AFC East this year? Every publication and prognostication I have seen has the Patsies winning the division, and some, ala Greg Cote in this mornings Herald, has them going 14-2 and the Dolphins in second at 9-7. That means the Patsies have the division wrapped up by December.

I think the Dolphins will win the East. Yes, the qb who's name shall not be mentioned here, is back. Well, the Dolphins have shown in the past an ability to defeat the Pats with him at qb; even though the Dolphins were underdogs.

Yes, the Patsies are improved. So are the Dolphins. Who has improved the most? Can't really say.

And why do pundits comment on the difficult schedule the Dolphins have, when the Patsie play almost the identical schedule except for 2 games (which I believe are against teams that finished second in their division last year)?

No way do I think the Pats go 14-2. The Dolphins will win one game against them. My prediction, based in part on analysis and part emotion; Dolphins and Pats both go 10-6 and the Pats get hosed again as the Dolphins win the tie-breaker.

Am I homer or a "realist?" Either way, thank you for the complement.

I definitely it is homerism to refuse to admit that the Patriots from top to bottom just plain have a more talented team thanour Dolphins.

But, I do not think it is homerism to believe we will win the division. Football is about a lot more things tha just the names you put onto the field.

But if I had to put money on it, I'm going with the Pats, but not at a ridiculous 14-2.

it definitely is not.... THAN our Dolphins. (and, no they aren't).... THAN just the names.

Homer but that's ok. It's hard to be realistic as fans and we always tend to overrate our teams. Could it happen? Sure, The Lions could win 10 games and that's what is great about being a bad team in the NFL- you can fix things quickly but realistically NE is the favorite and they should win the div barring another Brady injury. I don't think they are built to win a SB but they should cruise to a div title.

It is only homerism if you pick your particular team based on emotion and not by talent. It was homerism to pick the Dolphins to win the division two years ago and even last year, even though we did it. This year I don't think it's homerism.
I don't understand the homerism for the Pats. Brady is back but still hasn't played a full game since the injury and they have lost many of their defensive starters.

The Eternal debate... Homer v Hater... It is a philisophical showdown.

The Homer battle cry is passion for his club and optimism is no crime. 'The glass is half full'

The hater on the other hand declares 'realism' to be his ally and that the Homer lives in a fantasy world with J.R.R. Tolkien and his hobbits. 'The glass has no bottom'.

As is almost always the case when ideologies battle it out the answer is somewhere in between... No you are not a homer... But yes the Patsies should be favored.

but shhh... Keep in mind friend that one of the greatest motivators a coach has at his disposal is to quietly point out the disrespect his team has been shown as AFC east Champions.

be very very quiet... The lion is sleeping... I'm all for the articles that happily declare the Patsies the hands down favorite because if repeated enough... it is bound to wake him up.

so someone tell my why NE is all the sudden gods again! Because Brady is back? pffft. He's a good qb but that doesnt instantly make them SB champs. Looks like the defense is going to be pretty suspect to me!

He's a GREAT QB, an all-time great and the best in the game. If he plays last year NE wins the division by 3-4 games.

No, I dont agree that they win the division by 3-4 games. No way! So your saying 14-2, 15-1 last year? Um. no. Brady couldnt have stopped Miami's wildcat when we unveiled it in NE last year. We had the momentum that whole game. I guess that was there one loss.

Don't forget that we got handled by the Pats in our second meeting last year too. I think the Pats will most likely win the division, but that doesn't mean I am completely ruling the Dolphins out. We should challenge for the division, but the Patriots are tough.

oh, I didnt forget they handled us in the second game. I dont think their D is going to be SB caliber though. With the loss of Bruschi, Vrabel, Hobbs, and Harrison I think that D is going to be much more suspect than people think right now. But overall i do agree, they are tough, but I dont think they are going to be as godly as everyone is making them out to be.
