If we could get like a compensatory 3rd rounder, why trade him for a 4th?

that's a good point, but at this point trading him is all about salary cap space he takes up a good bit and we need to either restructure with him or cut him so we can sign our draft picks after april

You mean if we let him leave as a free agent after next season? Comp picks also depend on who we sign, so if we sign a big name free agent it could possibly counter losing Surtain a bit. Or the NFL could simply screw us so a comp pick for losing him is a hard thing to count on, especially a 3rd rounder

If the Chiefs are hell-bent on a 4th rounder this year, I say take that and a conditional 3rd rounder in 2006 that could increase to a 2nd or 1st rounder.

jnewmant man that pic is sik that chick is real hot ............... **** we better not trade him for no more than a 2 nd

This may sound stupid but could work

2nd overall and Surtain

to San Diego for 12 and 28 and a 6th round pick

I disagree,

If we were to get a compensatory pick it would be the last pick in the 3rd rd., which can actually be considered a 4th rd pick anyway. Kepp in mind the best Comp pick the NFl will give is the last pick in the 3rd round.

I say we keep Surtain.

how about surtain our second overall for their 2 first rounders and a fourth this year and a third next year.

We would not get a 2006 pick for Surtain, if he leaves next year via FA. The comp pick would be a 2007.

We will have no problem signing our draft picks we don't need to cut him. besides the trading deadline is week 6. by them the playoff picture will be shaping up. i'm sure one of those teams that are looking to make a run will want DB help. then i think we would be able to milk them for all surtain is worth(maybe more).

The NFL trading deadline is the least active among the major sports. If we keep him past the draft he is ours until next year.

this is true but last year there was a fair amount of activity last years deadline. also it seems like there are less trades in football at anytime compared to the other sports.

You'd be getting robbed on that one...#2 alone is worth more than that. They'd be getting surtain for nothing.

The number 2 pick is worth the 12 and 28 by itself IMO.
