That the Dolphins and Brees already have some kind of agreement. The reason I say this is because Saban was going to cut Frerotte yesterday if the deadline didn't get extended, so he must feel confident about landing someone like Brees. The other reason I am asking this is because how could the Eagles already have an agreement with Bentley before the start of free agency?

I think its quite possible because according to Gus' agent Saban told him they were going in a different direction for a starter next year. I doubt Saban would be burning bridges like that without a solid plan.

very possible and now the new CBA looks to be done by Monday which means we have the money to aford Brees even without cutting Frerotte

interesting idea. How sweet, if be next week we have a new CBA & a new QB?

I don't think we can talk to him until free agency begins

Then how could Bentley already be heading to the Eagles? I think these teams start to talk to at least their agents before hand and do it secretly.

Its against league standards and policy to talk to any player and make any negotiations with them while they are under contract. If they did make a plan, it could cost saban ALOT if it was found out.

Rather then saying he made a deal, id say he is 100% certain that he will find a better QB, no matter where he looks.

thats incorrect we just can't sign a contract with them, we already have a verbal agreement with Kelly Campbell. the Eagles already have locked up Bentley

Then the Eagles would be violating that policy too. You know teams start negotiating before the start of free agency anyways. They probably start at the combine in Indy.

that's very likely...and there's also the possibility that the player contact the coach, or gm
I doubt everyone stays silent before the official date

Well remember when the Skins signed Brunnell everyone knew he wsa going to the Skins before teh deadline. He just couldnt sign the contract.

The reason that we can openly talk with Kelly Campbell is because he was released........he's not under contract, unlike players who are going to be FA's.

Players whose contracts expire after the 2005 season, like Brees and Bentley, are still property of their prior team until the end of the league year (which now stands at 11:59pm est on Sunday). Talking with these players or about these players would constitute tampering............if it were ever admitted or proven. A news article saying that Bentley is set to join the Eagles, his hardly proof that they have talked to him. Common sense says that they have had talks.....but where's the proof. Also, the Saints would have to file a formal complaint of tampering against the Eagles..........which would serve what purpose for them exactly??

He was traded.......a player given permission to seek a trade, like Brunell, and like TO this year, is able to negotiate with other teams.

Campbell was released.

The Bentley deal is a rumor

I dont think it's because they already have an agreement. I think, it's some of 2 different things: 1-We need to make cap room so cutting him would help us out...and 2-Even if we somehow can't get brees, there's going to be plenty of available veteran QB's that we can grab. Cutting Frerrote makes sense in more ways than 1.
