Pat White threw an interception and was sacked in Wednesday's morning practice. He repeated that in the evening. He, by any estimation, has struggled this training camp, the way admittedly many rookie quarterbacks do in their first one.

But the changes White mentioned have been made to his throwing motion are starting to scare me - throwing from a higher arm slot, taking a shorter stride, keeping his shoulder closed more.

When you have to make a lot of changes to a quarterback entering the NFL - especially one with a 63 percent completion rating in college - it can't be spun off as a good thing.

The last quarterback I can remember so many changes were made to: John Beck.

he will be fine. we don't need him to be our QB. Thats what Henne is. He will be a situational passer, maybe throwing 3 or 4 passes a game. He doesn't have to be Peyton Manning.

No we shouldn't worry. Stupid question.

This is still training camp
He's still learning the offense
He's transferring from a spread offense to a pro-style offense
He's used to shotgun and is now under center
Coaches changed his throwing style
He's going against NFL caliber players
The 3 second buzzer wreaks havoc on everyone, even Penny last year
Working without gloves now (may or may not be an issue)

With all of those taken into consideration, I think we're expecting too much to think he's going to come out and beat Henne for 2nd on the depth chart. Come on.

I think if he does play ealy, the coaches will be using plays where he is comfortable. He seems most comfortable in the shotgun and on the move.

I'm not worried about rookie QB's, in general rookie QB's struggle a LOT. Of course somebody forgot to tell that to Matt Ryan last year but he is an exception to the rule.

Ryan at least came from a pro style offense, and was NFL ready. White...not so much.

What should we be worried about? he isnt' the second string QB Henne is... I'm only worried about Pat white if Chad and Chad are both on the IR.

Yeah, it is way too early to judge him already, based on the 1st 2 weeks of tc only.

Besides, who knows if they ever really intended to use him as a QB. It can all be just 'basic training' and he will end up being a WR like Hines Ward or Randal El.

It's not like they want to share their plans with the AFc East...

...and if both Chad's did hit IR, you can damn well be sure the trifacta would scour the waiver wire and trading block before plugging in any rookie qb.

I never understood this pick. Using a 2nd rounder for a Wildcat player? With the way hes performing in camp, I sure as hell don't want to see him out on the field anytime soon.

changing his throwing motion & his height bothers me more than anything else. not thrilled about a 44 pick on it either.

Keep in mind, Pat White is being asked to do alot of things that other rookie QBs are not.

Not only does he have to adjust to playing the QB position at the NFL level, with a new playbook, but he has formations and plays that will be (or have already been) designed for him, and no other player on the team has the specific skill-set that he does to fill that role.

So aside from his QB role, he is working on his receiving skills, route running, rushing plays, AND wildcat plays.

It is alot to ask, and I for one think he is doing an amazing job for a rookie. I'm not Pat White groupie, but I certainly wont get on his case for making some mistakes nor worry about our coaching staff altering his throwing motion/footwork/posture etc... (Coaches are ALWAYS making adjustments to players techniques, hearing that doesnt concern me at all.)

This post has arrived three years early. If we looked at the first year for quarterback Payton Manning would have been labeled a bust, but what am I saying, it hasen't even been a year. This is still his first training camp.
