to let some of the younger guys get some playing time? Or do we wait for one more loss to give guys like evans, vickerson, lemon, hagan, etc.. some or more playing time? OR do you think saban sticks with his starters the entire season? I personally would get the younger guys in there, but I have a feeling saban would not... thoughts?

yep

It is now almost academic that we will miss the playoff, let some of the younger guys get a look. If they show promise, we can cut some of the older vets that are 2 expensive, combine that with the $17 mill. we will be under the cap and WATCH OUT IN 2007 (money, ricky back, healthy c-pep, etc):dolphins:

What younger players are worth going out there? A #3 QB? If Lemon was better than JH he would be out there. Vickerson and Evans aren't the future. What you see on the field is what you get. Hagan is playing and dropping passes, what else do you need from a rookie?

No offense...We have this conversation every year about how we should start the younger guy the rest of the way. Don't get me wrong, i believe in starting younger guys to see what we have, but it seems like each and every year we have this conversation and the young players still end up riding the pine for the whole year.

yes i totally agree, you cannot be serious about plaing lemon that is a ridiculous idea harrington is our starter and will be for the rest of the season. and i really dont see vickerson or evans being star players or hagan for that matter if he continues the way that he is going. sure you can give young guys a run but i think players like roth allen who have realistic chances of starting next season will be the ones getting increased playing time next season.

That's what I meant!!! Give roth more then 3 reps a game. let allen get burned a few times and get it out of his system. Why not let lemon play. Scared he will throw 12 int's in 9 games!!

Roth is playing in the rotation, Allen is getting 20-25 snaps a game and yes, Lemon is a 3rd string QB-that's all

That is not necessarily true. Romo was outplaying Bledsoe in preseason easily and it took the Cowboys several weeks to make a change . . . its politics when it comes down to your starting QB in most cases. Joey gets 2 million + to be a backup . . . he has 4 years of starting QB experience . . . he is gonna get the look over Cleo every time . . . Cleo has upside tho and not giving him a IMO would be criminal right now. We gave up a 6th round pick for him and he has showed promise, if we are out of the playoff picture we need to go with the untapped goods. We know what we got with Joey . . . we need to see what we have in Cleo and possibly CPep before this season is over. However I am in agreement that u stick with Joey until u are officially out of playoff contention.

Vickerson and Evans arent the future?

Politics? Saban is worrying about politics b/c of what people get paid? That's complete BS. Lemon is simply not ready or ever will be ready to be a 1st string QB. JH and DC are better-PERIOD. Lemon is the scout team QB and that is all he ever will be.

Freddy Evans looked good in the preseason vs other teams starters.I think hes going to be a good one.

If Evans or Vickerson were worthy of being in there wouldn't they be part of the rotation or is this b/c of politics?

I agree, its complete craziness regarding the start Lemon posts. If lemon was better than Joey he would be starting and Joey would be on the bench. I dont know where all this speculation about Lemon being so great came from. I never even heard of the guy before we got him from san diego.

well i can somewhat understand why the others could be put in but really lemon will not have a chance of starting or playing, bar injuries/an absolute disaster, next season so it is really just a waste of valuable playing time and potential wins. i know our playoff chances are all but gone but i still want to have the joy of the phins putting up wins and not floundering with losses.

Hmmm, if u don't think politics and salary don't play a part in who your starter is in this league than u are blinded man. Why do u think it took so long for Sage to get a shot . . . when he did . . .he wasn't half bad . . he looked good in preseason and practice for a LONG TIME to say the least, but he never really got a shot until last year, and is threatening to take over Carr's job in Houston (he came in for Carr and played great, but Carr is the starter because . . . . . . big contract extension number 1 pick . . . it happens in the NFL).

Nobody is saying that Lemon is a 1st string QB, who in the hell knows that?? Not u or me . . . but it would be nice to see what we have in our 3rd string QB instead of wasting a roster spot on him every week. We gave up a 6th round choice for what? Joey's play is on the table . . . we have no clue what we have in Cleo . . . I know he is a mobile QB with a solid arm . . . which would probably suit this offense more . . . but I know I don't wanna see Joey go out there the rest of this season and leave Cleo untapped again, especially with a team that is gonna have QB problems going into the offseason.
