It's called " unfair advantage " The only situation I've ever seen it applied, is with "sideline communication" if one teams communication system goes down, then the other team has to turn theirs off too.
Remember the " snow plow " incident, Phins v NE. Miami had the right to protest the use of the snow plow, clearing the field for NE to kick game winning FG because it wasn't made availible to both sides.
