Everyone keeps mentioning that he didn't practice with the starting offense long enough. I played pro football for 2 years and every single player on a team prepares them self to start and when you do get the starting nod you are more fired up and ready to roll then any other player on the team. If you can't step up when your that hyped up and ready to play then you'll never make it.
I've watched Harrington his entire career and he looked like his exact self on sunday that's why I don't understand why everyone is so excited. He has alot of heart and you can tell he really loves the game but it seems like everytime he gets confident or excited he makes a horrible play. That's why I said he is not a winner. Look at his stats in the past 5 years he has been the most inconsistent quarterback in the league.

In 2005 8/11 games he started he had a QB rating below 70. He also through 12 Int's in those 11 games.

He's only had back to back 90+ QB rating games twice in his career.
In his career his average QB Rating following a good game is a 66.
When he's leading a game he has a QB rating of 68
When he's losing a game he has a QB rating of 68
His QB rating in the Redzone is a 64

Career 1st quarter QB rating - 78
Career 2nd quarter QB rating - 66
Career 3rd quarter QB rating - 58
Career 4th quarter QB rating - 61

Career 1st half QB rating - 72
Career 2nd half QB rating - 59

His career completion percentage is an embarrasing 54%

Yesterdays Game his first half QB rating was an 80 his second half QB rating was a 32.

Now for Culpeppers Stats
His career redzone QB rating is a 78
His career QB rating when losing is a 80
His career QB rating when leading is a 97.86

Career 1st quarter QB rating - 95
Career 2nd quarter QB rating - 89
Career 3rd quarter QB rating - 81
Career 4th quarter QB rating - 84

Career 1st half QB rating - 90
Career 2nd half QB rating - 82

His career completion percentage is a very respectable 64

This year Cpepps QB rating in the first half of games is a 73 and in the second half it is a 80. He has improved in every single game this season.

Didnt casserly say that most people had Harrington with a 2nd-4th round grade, but the Lions fell for the hype created by Nke etc.

Comparing Culpepper's stats with Harringtons's stats is not a fair comparison IMO when you look at the organizations they were drafted into. Stats are only good if the "context" in which the occured is understood.

Culpepper walked into one of the greatest offenses ever assembled in Moss, C. Carter, Robert Smith the OL (Stringer, Stuessie, Birk).

Harrington walked into, well, Matt Millen and company.

It is like comparing a guy who right out of college was hired as President of Nike with a guy hired by a bunch of crack addicts trying to make shoes that can compete.

Are we really now comparing Joey Harrington to Steve Young?? I guess it makes sense, because Scott Mitchell was the messiah, then it was Fiedler, then Feely, now Joey.. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.. One other quick thing, we don't have Jerry Rice or Ricky Watters in his prime here.. We don't have a dominant O-Line or anything else that would even begin to parallel Steve Young's transition from Tampa Bay to San Francisco.. Or am I missing something?

i think he can win he just needs time he made some really good throws yesterday the only thing he pushed some passes that were not good but he made some really good throws

He only played 2 seasons in tampa and he improved each year. He was then traded to one of the greatest teams in NFL history and did great. The dolphins are not the Late 80's 49ers.
Steve Young only played bad for 2 years. Joey has done it for 5 years.
Look up many quarterbacks have stunk it up for the first five years they were in the league and then became superstars, then see if you feel the same way.

He has made really good throws his entire career, thats why he lasted so long in detroit. Because everyonce in a while he would make that great pass but then he would follow it up with a horrible one. He's done it his entire career and he did it yesterday. He looked EXACTLY like he did in detroit.

curious to know whether you really watched him play for the lions, like every play and every game or like everyone else who think he sucks because they saw some bad highlights,,,,,,,, how bout those lions this year looks to me that joey was the best thing going for that franchise and they blew that.

i liked what i saw from harrington,

he is playin with much less pressure than cp

i would say once he gets some qualilty time practicin w/ the 1st team, the offense will finally click,

unfortunately, cp has done what warner did in az, which is already dug a hole that is nearly impossible to cllimb out.

on the bright side however, the season is never over until we lose 7 games, and hopefully the pats go on a losing streak

joey did get better each year first year most rookies dont start or suck but next year 5 points into his pass rating then it went from 63 to 77 which isnt great but it still shows that he was inproving then last year he thought he had to be perfect because if he wasnt they would bring in garcia
jake plummer did bad his first 5 seasons and he turned out 3 84+seasons in a row with a new team
there are 5 other qb's who didnt even start their fist few seasons that sre doing pretty well now

Joey has sucked his whole career. Let's just hope that had more to do with Detroit more than him.

I watched every single Lions game in 2004.

I think he will get better if he gets reps with the 1st team. I like the fact that he didn't hold on to the ball forever yesterday. The long throws will come with reps. After seeing what the pats did to cincy last week, I think he did o.k.l for his first start. How does that win against the titans look now after the fight they gave indy yesterday......any given sunday, baby. We just have to keep improving. I just hope we can win the next two going into the break!!
