Steve Mitchell-USA TODAY Sports Koa Misi is a name that is unusual in that it is almost never the first name you see in a column or article, but also because it only has three consonants in it. Have three consonants ever caused so much bleh and meh and grumbled derision from a fanbase?
I have seen this guy trashed in so many unoriginal and childish ways it is somewhat irksome. I’m not just talking Joe Fan here either, but people who really spend time trying to capture as much information as possible. Even these really well informed people will relegate Misi to a necessary monetary evil and not as a valuable part of the complex puzzle of roster building.

Hoping the stand out means On The Field....... last year what 3 games...... and this is what we get excited about

I wish that were the case but realistically think he is only being kept for depth, and even if that were the case its still a great thing for him considering the extent and type of injury he sustained added to him playing a violent position....clearly he cant stay healthy but when on the field he is a decent player....in 11 and 12 with burnett/dansby he did pretty good at SAM but at this point I hope we go for Brown at right price or draft a SAM early

The number one question in this topic is Where they think he will be standing...Year 2011 2012 great 6-7 years ago you'd think professionals could learn something in that amount of time...But we followers still seem to have the ability to think we can explain away all the ineptitude with a continuation of the same philosophy of stuff that never gotten us anywhere seen over and over and over again for the last 17 years..

Personally finding it amusing and a little weird that people see a shot with the same crap going on and on and on with different names on top....
But hell I hope to god Im wrong and forgive me staff if theirs a rule against referring to God.........

Is Koa Misi headed for a standout season? Yes ... all 3 games of it.

He is an OK LB, which for our defense, makes him a must-start. But he always gets injured. Parcells always said that the most important ability is availability. That's where Misi translates to nada.

More likely headed to IR than a stand out season

Yep then go through the same situation next year..............we need someone who actually knows what they are doing and we are miles away from that now even with the so called Gase saviour....but you can expect another 5-8 years to discover this If Lucky

To me Koa Misi is a depth player at this point. I think he's versatile and tough, but counting on him to start is not realistic. It can happen, but it seems to be very much against the odds considering his career.

Of course. All this time he was just playing with us and now he will not only be healthy but a Pro Bowler.

Haven't researched the answer to this question, but can anyone name an NFL LB that has started 84 games who has had fewer impact plays than Koa? I mean going into his 8th year with no int, and only 12 sacks, 258 tackles? Yeah I know there are some who rave about his edge setting but that only goes so far. He has reached his ceiling and it's not that high, and his best years are certainly behind him. He was never much more than a solid LB who doesn't make plays and can't cover. Add to that he is getting older and his over/under on playing healthy is some where around the 3rd preseason game, and I say that equals giving the spot to a younger prospect with potential.

We brought in 4 UDFA Linebackers in 2015 and a year later we rather Paysinger and Butler starting.

I'm not giving a spot to anybody unless they prove competent enough to be out there on the field. Koa Misi may be an average LB when healthy, but his motor runs high and he does the job. Him being off the field has made us a worse team against the run.

For me, he's a set it and forget it type of dude . . . I don't have to worry about SLB if he is out there. I can worry about developing a FS, hoping our young CBs step up, finding another pass rusher, a couple of young lineman maybe, etc. Him being healthy would be absolutely a great thing for this team.

He's just being one more on a long list of bad moves from our FO that dates well back. That year we could have drafted Earl Thomas(a real playmaker)but instead we drafted two below average players that never made any plays but yet some people tell us that he's "solid"......lol

Ozzy rules!!
