Booker was a highly touted high school recruit with special speed and quickness, like Reggie was. Reggie goes to USC and plays on an allstar team. Booker goes to FSU and plays behind an awful OL with no other special talent around him. Can/will Cam utilize Booker ala Payton/Carroll used Bush? I thought that Payton did a marveolus job incorporating the undersized Bush into his offense and was simply wondering if we can expect similar (say 75% of) Bush rookie's numbers for Booker this year. Thoughts?

i dont know about bush being undersized that much but yea i hope lorenzo turns out special.

I think ultimately they are two different types of backs. I do hope/think Cam will utilize Booker, and hopefully, the rest of the team in a way that puts each player in situations that allow them to be the most productive.

Lets not put too much pressure on the chap with high expectations lads.

The chap is talented, but not going to work miracles.

At this point Bush is all hype as a RB

565 yds with a 3.6 avg is nothing to get all that excited about. Sure he put up some nice numbers recieving stats but nothing that comes close to the hype surrounding him.

Every FSU fan I know says we're going to really enjoy having this guy on our team.

I remember thinking Bush looked lost at the beginning of last year. It took a while for them to get it figured out. Then by playoff time, he was a real factor.
Booker will be a factor eventually, but it will take him some time.

Wow I cannot believe that there are people that would actually compare Booker to Bush. They are not even close to the same back.

Bush is Bush and Booker is Booker

The only player I would even compare him to because they are similar would be Warrick Dunn

No Not really but Booker is a nice back. Bush has the rare ability that he could have been a top back or receiver. Amazing body control and quickness make Bush a threat to go at any time. Bush averaged about 10 yards a touch his senior year and we know Booker had a less than stellar college career.
Bush without the production would have been more appropriate but Bush had like 1300 yards receiving and rushing, while in the backfield with a 1000 yard back. He actually had more total yards and touchdowns than our starting runningback.I think it would be very unfair to Booker to make that comparism, because Booker can do some nice things with the ball, but especially receiving Bush is already the best receiving runningback in the league and should get better running the ball. 75% percent of Bush's numbers of Bush's numbers would be close to a 1000 yards and the only way Booker will get that is if Ronnie goes down for significant time.

I guess it all a matter of perspective he had 1300 total yards and 8 touchdowns with a 1000 yard back in the same backfield, not to mention had a punt return for a touchdown. Do we think our first round pick is going to have anywhere near that kind of impact? I personally think being 10th in receiving for a runningback is a pretty good acheivement.

As a New Orleanian, I watched almost every Saints game last year.

Reggie Bush is a rare talent. His speed, agility and power (yes, power) is amazing. I can't tell you how he just captivates when he touches the football. Anyway, Booker is not Bush. If he's 1/2 of Bush I'll be happy.

And to the guy who claims Bush is all hype by citing his rushing statistics is simply misguided. Bush also had 88 receptions, and his presence opened up the Saints offense and allowed 7th round pick Marquis Colston to explode.

If Lorenzo Booker turns out as well as I think Kenny Irons does playing for the Bengals with Rudi Johnson, I'll be happy with that. Rudi is similar to Ronnie, except Ronnie is a little bigger and faster. Lorenzo and Irons are about the same size and they have that good burst and quickness. Lorenzo doesn't have Reggie Bush's 4.32 speed but running 4.45 - 4.55 40s isn't too bad. He'll have to make a career out of being super elusive and quick running the ball outside and catching short passes, etc.

They have similar running styles, but I don't know if anyone knows for sure what type of back Booker really is, due to Bowden. Bush is an elite talent in the backfield. He is an amazing open field runner with the ability to go the distance like Barry Sanders. If he was lined up at receiver he'd probably make the pro bowl every year at that position. I think the only Draw back to Reggies game would be like Barry Sanders he is not going to run people over for that first down or touchdown. I also don't think he has the ability to consistently make people miss when the D penetrates the backfield. Sanders was great at that because of how small he was, he was able to pretty much disappear behind the line. It's little harder for bush because he's bigger than Sanders. Overall in the NFL I think the only person at this time in the NFL that can create more matchup problems for defenses than Bush is LT.

No one knows what they will be in the NFL until they line up and do it, while the odds may be against it, no one can say Booker won't be superior to Bush in the long run, anything is possible and we will find out soon enough.

Seems like everyone is giving up on Brown so soon, despite having a 1,000 yard season behind a bad OL and even being missing some games.Booker will be good but lets not give up on our incumbent starter.
