Is Miami, the City, part of the problem with Dolphin teams? I mean, you get these young guys in there making millions of dollars and living in a tropical paradise.

How many of them focus more on the nightlife of South Beach, the women, the sun, the surf, etc. rather than focusing on doing what it takes to build a strong, tough football team?

Just a thought.

I'm sure it plays a role for some. Even if it did would it matter? Can't replace the city with an interim city.

In the Shula days you had guys on coke before the games (don't sound alarmed . . . it's the 70's and 80's in Miami) . . . and they were a playoff team every year.

It wasn't a problem from 1970-1995.
Coaching separates winners from the mediocre losers.

Most of them do not live in Miami or anywhere near South Beach.

No it's terrible management. It's that simple. There have been too many boneheaded mistakes and failures since Shula retired.

The Heat have won 3 championships in the last decade.

It's all about management. Micky Arison/Pat Riley is a model franchise structure. The Dolphins are just a joke from top to bottom.

I think it does contribute a little. It makes coaching a bit harder. Not impossible, but just a little bit harder, because you have to reach and reign in guys who are easily distracted with the glitz and glam of their new lifestyle. SOME guys are not going to reach their full potential in Miami. But like Campbell seems to understand, you have to reach different guys in different ways.

Of course you need good coaching but if a good coaching staff doesn't have the right kind of players in place then it still won't matter.

Philbin definitely needed to go but I still see a team made up of mostly soft, whiny, privileged prima donnas left in the wake.

so...now we know what to do to make this a playoff team again!!

These guys are professionals. They're here to work, not to party.

Doesn't change the fact that a lot of them suck at what they do however
