We have all read how Saban said the offensive system will remain the same this season, despite the change in OC. Is this the reason Mularkey's playcalling has been so atrocious? Is Mularkey's lack of rythym with the playcalling a result of him being uncomfortable in somebody else's offense? Would we have been better off if Mularkey brought in his system?

No. Saban's only fault in the Mularkey fiasco is his decision to bring him in in the first place. Mularkey is, plain and simple, a horrible offensive coordinator.

yes i think there is a possibility of mularky being uncomfortable but he should know that we need to give the ball to ronnie more often.if he doesnt get 20 carries and at least 5 more touches of any sort then we have a problem.its unacceptable to run only 14 times and pass 39 times.just awful.and it wasnt like we were very far out of it.we were in it the whole time

If Mularkey can not learn a system he should not be the OC I would think it would be easier for one guy to learn something then 20 some people.

I'm starting to look at Mike Malarkey the same way I see Dave Wannstedt and that is not good. I see him as a guy I'm rooting for to turn it around, to shut up all of the rival fans who think the Dolphins will never go anywhere with him as OC, which is the same way I felt about Wanny. However deep down I agree with them and realize he will probably never get it together, just like Wanny.

No, Mularky is simply an idiot. I watched him for two years here as HC, and while he had one decent year, he went downhill fast.

Mularky's rep as an offensive "innovator" means he makes bizarre play calls (like hb option on a 2 pt. conversion) which, when they work out, make him look like a genius. When they blow up, he is revealed to be an idiot. Unfortunately, there is more of the former than the latter.

His big thing is he likes to "trick" the opponent. In football, you gotta make plays whether the other guy knows what is coming or not. Surprise can be a tactical tool, but too often he surprises the wrong players.

Our pet name for him up here is Meathead. Please feel free to adopt it as yours as well.

Too bad NS doesn't allow his assistants to give press conferences, you are missing out on quality entertainment with MM at the mic. Last year, when we had qb issues, we refused to name a starter because "if it gives us a 5% advantage" then it was worth it.

Your best bet is for MM to lose playcalling duties (well, after the next Buffalo game anyway!)

Seriously though, rivalry aside, I feel bad for you guys getting stuck with Meathead. Hopefully NS can get the ship righted.

Mularkey has been around for a long time.

Soon enough, teams will fiqure out how to defend his style and tendencies. Its just that simple.

Most teams know where he's coming from by now.

Some times i wonder if he's still working for Bufallo
Nah, he did that stuff here.

Worse, he was the HC. He had his fingers in all the pies, not just the O.

My take is he's one of those "systems" guys. Make the players play the system whether it suits their strengths or not. I've always like the coaches who modified their philosophy to suit their roster. They put their players in position to be successful.

I know he got saddled with an O when he was hired on, but you can see from his playcalling he's not looking at his teams abilities or the opponents weakness.

Case in point, the Bills game. Buffalo got torched for almost 200 rushing yards the week before. A hot day on their home turf, they should have been pounding the ball all day long. Come the 4th quarter, the Bills D would have been sucking wind, no doubt. You guys could have walked away with it.

Instead good ol' Meathead decides to air it out with a QB who is undoubtedly still a little "broken." He plays into Buffs strength - their passing D. They even had Brady rattled in NE the week prior. Of course Meathead figures "Hey they're expecting us to run all day, lets air it out even though they've got swiss cheese for a middle run defense."

I'm sure you all saw it, and you all had to be thinking the same thing.

We had posts from Steelers fans right after he was hired as teh Buff HC telling us basically the same thing but we figured they were full of it. Funny how history repeats...:D

Are you guys sure we're running the same offense as last year? It doesn't look the same to me...

It's funny, the same thing happened with me when Buffalo fans were posting negative stuff about Mularkey during the offseason. I thought it was just a case of "sour grapes". But I have to say, throughout four games, your analysis of MM seems to be right on the money.

MM is a piece of ****, I wish Saban would fire him already...Let Baggett take over the offense and get the promotion he deserved.

Its deja vu... we tried to warn you.... good Lord am I glad he's outta here!!
