Is Olindo gonna get the boot?

Wes is not a NFL kicker... he is a great back up... Why would be get rid of Olindo? He is still a great kicker, and even the greats have bad years...

From all reports out of camp, he is looking pretty good. He even got a Saban compliment... So I don't think we will be cutting him.

I would keep him, but if he starts to struggle early on in the season then I wouldn't hesitate to release him.

Wes isn't a kicker. He could probably kick the 25 yard FG's for us. He doesn't have the distance Mare does either on kickoffs. Mare is staying. There's no one out there good enough to bring in.

Did you read this quote from Saban.

''Olindo has had a fantastic camp and had made a much higher percentage of his kicks than what our standard would be,'' Saban said. ''Just like every position, the key to that drill is to do it when we needed it the most. That's what the great competitors can do and, hopefully, that's what our guys will do for us.''

That makes me believe Mare is doing just fine.

Mare's here, at least for another season. But if he doesn't return to form, I would think next year we'd bring in a cheaper alternative as competition. Mare's production hasn't matched his salary as a top paid kicker the last 3 seasons. Welker will only be an emergency kicker in any scenario.

The only way I would be ok with cutting Mare durning a season would be if Vanderjagt, Mike was in FA...which will never happen.

Well said!!! We need Mare to be clutch and not continue missing big kicks...especially for the money we are paying him. Hope we can get
Mason Crosby the kicker from Colorado in a couple years,,,,,he kicked one over 60 yards last year and has as strong a leg as Nugent of Ohio State (now a Jet).

And he did have an injury last year... From all reports, Olindo will probably win one or two for us this year.

On a side note, I can't wait for the dirt to be gone!

Unless the Marlins make the World Series again we'll probably only see the dirt twice this year with the early bye and the two games following the bye on the road.

True... And I feel guilty... I'm a Marlins fan, and was at the WS... But I HATE the dirt... I don't want to wish the Marlins bad luck just because I'm selfish!

Over 60 in Colorado...put an * next to that one. Accuracy along with a real strong leg is what made Nugent so great for the Buckeyes. Plus he has ice water in his veins!
