Is our defense a BIG disappointment waiting to happen?

Traylor is a big ? for me, he reminds me of Adams for the bills, both washed up as far as I'm concern.

Yes that same washed up player that made the probowl last year. If you followed any bills game you would know he was a terror last season. He outplayed Williams in every facet of the game last year.

Are you kidding me? There was no better back in the league the second half of the season. He scored 10 TDs in a 6 game span behind what was believed to be a weak offense line. Many 'experts' are predicting Willis to lead the league in rushing in just his second season. Its not far fetched at all to think Mcgahee is pro bowl material.

He could lead the league in rushing but you got to keep in mind teams WILL find a way to stop him, and once they do it puts more pressure on the QuarterBack, this could happen to Ronnie too, after all no one is perfect. Im not saying either RB sucks(they are both good), its just that something like that is bound to happen. It happened to Portis, Ricky, Edge, and many others.

Of Course. No running back ever rushes for 100 game in and out...they have off days. But they pad it with 150+ some games.

I wonder if a back ever did bust 100+ for a season??? Ricky coulda...from the workload alone. Don't know if he still can though.

anyways....Yeah i think our defensive line is solid enough to stop the run. We've still got pretty good LB's last i checked, and who knows how well our 3-4 hybrid system may work. Our defense shouldn't be a dissappointment, but then again, Im not one to let myself get dissappointed. If i don't believe they're a great defense by the end of the first game, then its not a big problem to me.

When it comes to linebacker stoping the run I worried about Crowder, He was never good at that, hopefully he has changed.

The thing that scares me the most is the name factor. We went out and brought in some "names." Guys who were pretty good at some point in their careers, but lately really haven't been living up to their hype. For instance Vonnie Holliday. He's been a relatively obscure player up to now. I'm not doubting his potential, but he's been injured alot and really not provided any basis for me to think he's anything more than a body right now on the defensive line.

Keep in mind it's a new scheme, there's all these new players, and the old players are going to have to adjust after having spent all those years in Jim Bate's system. It's never easy.

I wouldnt speak such words around this board. Watch your back!

I think if DT turns out to be a huge problem we will see a lot more of the 3-4 defense that way we only have one weak spot to cover... I dont see us have a "huge dissapointment" on D but there are going to be some growing pains this year.

i see our defense improving greatly in comparison to last year....especially on run defense......i dont see that great of a problem with our secondary because will still have veterans back there and maybe be signing shulters (who knows).....the dolphins have been known for there defense and i find it hard to believe that they are a dissappointment waiting to happen

We are in deep doo-doo. I want to be a homer and say we'll turn it around in one year. Truthfully, Zach is a year older and he's behind very questionable talent in front of him. We lost Surtain (it was a necessary evil) and our Safety situation is below average. Junior is no spring chicken, and the other guys are largely unproven.

It hurts to even write this stuff. It's gonna be a looooooong year again. You can't expect miracles in the first year of rebuilding. It makes Leinhart all the more a possibility. That will help ease the pain.
