Is BP making all the player and coaching personell decisions? Is he making the player position changes? Or does Ireland and Tony S. contribute more than what we thnk? Just curious cause it seems like most people assume BP does everything.

I think Ireland and Sparano have a lot more say than we all think, but they probably all think alike on most issues. Hopefully Parcells isn't pushing them out of the way too much because they're going to still be here after Parcells four years are up (assuming Parcells doesn't make his way back onto the sidelines as a coach).

I agree i think they all have the same ideaology so it makes things easier, but I think it all goes through him

I think the GM is making the decision as a GM should with both Parcells and Sprango's Ok..but in the end Parcell was brought here to turn this team around, so I'm sure just by his nature he's involved in closely looking at these players with a coaches eyes.

Make no mistake about the fact that Tony is the HC. Once this season gets going it all falls on him. He don't seem to be any yes man to me. Tony will be the one making personell decisions and dealing with all the heat which hopefully he won't have any. Bill and Jeff and Tony are all working together right now to give Sparano the best chance to compete right now but once this thing kicks off Bill and Jeff will be kicked back in the FO trying to make deals and such.

Lets hope it is working that way at least I am really hopefull that Ireland will sway or over rule Parcells on some of his draft decisions because Parcells could use "some" improvement in that department. Not saying Parcells is terrible but he has had more misses in the first few round than I like. Hopefully Ireland is just better in drafting, trading down etc and Parcells knows it and lets him GM the Dolphins!

I think all three of them work together on decisions but Parcells plays the role of media whore to absorb any distractions the media is trying to create and to confuse and muttle them to make them lose our scent. In other words Parcells is the decoy telling the media hey guys i'm over here come and get me while Ireland and Sparano conduct other business. Let me paint it yet another way: The media flies start buzzing around so Parcells excuses himself and relieves himself with a nice big taco bell ,refried beans, chocolate shake type of dump, the media flies cannot resist this big pile of steaming crap so they swarm to it while Parcells returns back to continue business decisions with Ireland and Sparano.

Yes, let's not have any illusions that BP doesn't have final say or veto power on any of the personnel decisions. I think the discussions and talent evaluation are equal parts for all three. But if they get stuck on something, BP is going to have the last say. He was specifically brought in to turn things around here. If that fails, he and his reputation is the one who will take the hit. Once the season starts Coach S. will have full say on the players/team, but Bill and Ireland will do everything they can to get the best talent within fiscal sense, in place before that happens. I think that we have a possible advantage at the draft if BP is talking on the phones with potential trade partners while Ireland and Coach S. can plan their next pick. Hopefully this approach can net us some good moves and picks during the draft. One of the first years in some time I think we are REALLY doing some in-depth homework on all kinds of potential draft picks. Just gotta believe we are finally going to have that draft that will pay dividends for years to come.

parcells reputation is on the line. Yes, he is running the show. Remember, if he has to cook he wants to buy some of he groceries. So if he's responsible to Huzenga, yes he's going to buy the groceries and cook them too. IT'S PARCELLS SHOW.

I think he hired those two guys, guys he's very well acquainted with because he thought that they would work well TOGETHER, but he is still large & in charge. :d-day:

I'm looking forward to the first time the Tuna blows up at or smart-mouths a reporter... Kind of like the coors light commercials, but worse

The fact that he brought in Tony Sparano IMO means he's like minded and they make all decisions collectively, however considering Parcells personality I'd feel confident in saying his is probably the last word period.

Is Bill running things; you bet he is but will he make every call? No way. Bill wants the glory but he sure as hell doesn't want the 5 A.M. to Midnight work days. Will they make the calls, my guess is yes, but with Bill standing right behind them whispering "Don't blow it!"

BP is in charge of personell decisions, he would get the final word but thats not to say sparano is going to be silent when it comes to personell decisions. Thats why BP is hiring his own people to have around himself anyway, so he can work with them and make mutual decisions. Although anyone could be excused for thinking BP has 100% complete with the way the media reports any dolphins news. If sportscenter has two main stories, one with parcells and one with sparano, guess which one more people are gonna watch...

PHINTIM:

parcells has NEVER had complete control over personel untill NOW!

geogre young with the giants, bobby greer with the jets and bob kraft with the
pats and jerry jones [who promised control but didnt come through] in dallas
had the say so on draft choices.

there have been some clunkers for sure, but how much of that was bill and how much
was it the gm's doing?

bill has left most of his jobs because of these very issues! like the terry glenn thing.

he wanted daryl gardner [dt who miami grabbed at#20] and kraft wanted glenn.

glenn it was! and that is what caused the "buying the groceries" speech and was
the catalist for bills departure.

so we shall see! he has turned EVERY program he has been with around but he is
NOT coaching this time and says he is going to stay COMPLETELY out of it AND
he now has full control of what players are drafted so the real bill is going to be
shown to all this year.

his coaching was never a question, but the draft pics on some of his teams have.
