could it be that this front office is in debate with Philbin on wether he can bring Flynn along with him?how better knows Flynn than Philbin.he has worked with him and has all the ins and outs on him.i would rather take a chance on Flynn than to give away far to much in order to move up in the draft.i think we go in FA and pick up a RG and perhaps a TE.then move on to the draft and go heavy on the D side of the ball ,with our first pick Upshaw.
so what do you guys think ,could this hire be based on the deal that Philibin brings Flynn with him?:D

No, I don't think thats the case. They are going to hire the best of the three candidates that can try and turn things around. Flynn will be sought by five teams at least. Flynn won't come here just because of philbin

perhaps they want Philbin out of the 3 and the cherry on top is he convinces Flynn this is a good fit for him

Frankly, I kinda want Philbin to help us get Flynn. On the surface, it seems like a nice solution to our problems. And it protects our draft picks to continue building in other areas of the team.

But my gut tells me there are 2 things wrong with the picture.

I think it's a fool's errand to believe Philbin will not be greatly affected by his recent tragedy. Honestly, taking on the most demanding job in your life should not follow one of the lowest moments in your personal life. While I believe people are capable of anything, we have to be realistic. The person we're interviewing is not the person in the interview. Sure, Dungy had great tragedy and continued coaching, but not for long. There's a difference in weathering a storm and trying to move during a storm. He might be the best pick, but I firmly believe he needs time to deal with other stresses in his life. They are more important.

Secondly, I believe if we were to get Flynn and Philbin, the organization as a whole would not be as invested in Flynn. In that, I mean from the GM on up. If we move up to take RGIII, for example, now everyone's jobs are more closely invested with the QB. That inspires everyone to help him succeed. But if Flynn implodes, realistically only Philbin is at risk. Ireland could wash his hands of it and distance himself.

For these reasons, I don't think Philbin is right for the job and I don't think Flynn will leverage the true investment this organization should make from top to bottom in order to make the QB position a real Franchise position.

Dan didn't just succeed because he was Dan. He succeeded because every move made by the organization was centered around Dan. That's the level of committment we need now.

JMHO

I dont think Flynn and Philbin are a package deal.It would serve Flynn to sign with us in FA do too the fact he will have the same offense which he has had success in.Going somewhere else and playing in a different offense under a new coach he might go down the same road as AJ Felley and Kevin Kolb

I think if philbin is hired it's very likely flynn will come with him aswell, but ross should not consider it a package deal when hiring him... Hire a head coach on his merits alone. nothing else.

Very dangerous hiring Philbin based on Philbin delivering Flynn in a package deal. No guarantee you will get Flynn. Seattle, Cleveland and Washington could want in.

Hire the guy that is best to lead the team...if that is Philbin fine in your mind...fine. However, I think that future leader is McCoy.

What is this fascination with Flynn? The dude only played in 2 regular season games. This is A.J Feeley all over again.

No guarantee Flynn is coming with Philbin - chances are good considering only a handful will vie for his services - a better chance Flynn comes than Clements as OC

I do think that Flynn would be very likely to come here if we get Philbin. Think about it, Philbin would theoretically be coming here to install that Packers offense, right? Flynn is experienced in that offense, comfortable in it, knows it. Miami has ONLY $1.5 million tied up at the QB position, plus whatever table scraps we're paying Pat Devlin. We would easily be able to match or beat any offer that teams like Cleveland or Washington could put up for Flynn. We've also got some pretty good talent on offense. If we spend that #9 pick on a guard (as a lot of us are afraid of) then this would be a very appealing situation for him to come into, and he'd still be getting paid.

Not a Flynn fan so I'm not super excited about this scenario, but I do think that it's very likely and part of the reason why Ross is rumored to be pushing for Philbin.

At the very least Philbin/Flynn and maybe Clements... Sounds like a 'plan'... Something this franchise has been missing for a very VERY long time.

Add clements n we r in way better shape than last year at this time

Look up
Thomas Brady 0 games started his first year
Philip Rivers 0 games started his first 2 years
Aaron Rodgers 0 games started his first 3 years
Ryan Fitzpatrick 3 games started his first 3 years
Tony Romo 0 games started his first 2 years
Matthew Hasselbeck o games started his first 2 years
Matt Schaub 2 games started his first 3 years
Kevin Kolb 0 starts his first 2 years
Drew Brees 0 starts his first season
Matt Cassel 0 starts his first 3 seasons

2 say he'd be AJ Feeley is narrow sighted on your part

Some players take longer to progress, some players are stuck in a situation
playing behind a veteran, but to come out like Miss Cleo does nothing
for your credibility

Philbin has nothing to do with Flynn when deciding on a coaching position. They are two separate people.

yes you are correct but dont you think it might do some good to have philbin talk us up a little and help flynn decide where he should go
